Sofie's POV
It felt weird being alone, after having spent the night with Niall. Niall... Just his name running through my mind gave me goosebumps and butterflies, making me laugh out loud like a 10 year old schoolgirl. I continued along the same path I'd walked last night, the same place where I'd reached my all time low. It was amazing how much had changed within a 12 hour course. Yesterday would've ended badly if Niall hadn't found me. Tears threatened to escape me again, and I urged myself to get the hang of it. No more crying. It was time to be happy. I'd finally met someone genuine, someone with a kind heart. The smile returned as soon as I thought of Niall again, his beautiful face perfectly sketched into my memory. I looked up, the sun shining bright and happy, few clouds decorating the perfect blue sky, along with the soft LA breeze sweeping my hair back. I took extra careful looks at the environment around me. I'd walked this road many times before, but I'd never appreciated just how beautiful it really was. The delicate flowers that decorated the sides of the road, the gorgeous orange leaves gently falling from the trees, and even the little birds chirping away happily. My heart throbbed with happiness, a feeling I hadn't been familiar with in a while. As I approached my house, I slowly felt the smile disappear from my face. The first image to greet me as I walked the familiar pathway to my house was my father furiously making out with his pathetic excuse of a girlfriend. I rolled my eyes and attempted to enter with as much discretion as possible.
"Soph! Baby where were you last night? You missed bowling night with Ashley and I!"
Hand on the doorknob, I'd been so close to escaping this confrontation. I took a deep breath and answered through gritted teeth.
"I was out."
"You look like you just rolled out from a trash can. No offense honey!" My grip on the doorknob tightened to the point where I felt it slowly imprinting onto my palm.
"For your information, Ashley, I went camping," I retorted as dryly as possible.
"Now Soph, no need to be brusque, Ash was simply stating an observation." I grumbled something incoherently and opened the door, hoping to end this torturous encounter.
"Wait come back sweetheart!", I heard my dad call me, and as much as I tried to ignore him, my love for him was deeper than my hatred for Ashley.
"Yes?"
"Let's go out to breakfast! George called the other day and told me they just opened a delightful little bakery by downtown, and security is extra tight, so there's no danger of paparazzi!"
"As tempting as it sounds, I'm exhausted, and not totally up for it. Sorry"
"Sophie, come on! We haven't gone out, just the 3 of us, in months."
"I'm sorry Dad, but I just don't want to." I could see the hurt in his eyes, and felt a twinge of pain, which almost instantly disappeared as I looked over at the fake sympathetic smile on Ashley's face. "It's okay babe," she looked lovingly into my dad's eyes and drawled out in her annoying southern accent, "we can have fun, just us two." I struggled to hold in baby barf as she stroked his chest with her long red fingernails (could she be any tackier?)
"No. Sophie's coming with us, whether she likes it or not, and that's final." "Dad!" "Go shower and change, we leave in 15. And come back with a new attitude as well." I spun on my toes and marched up the stairs, angrily slamming the door shut. I felt the tears begin roll down my cheek, and hastily wiped them away. Almost instantly I felt my phone vibrate.
"Mica- iMessage"
"Why is there a sexy blond guy at my house asking for you?"
Shit. Another vibration.
