The Impossible Girl

chapter one

She thought she was doing the right thing. She is isn't she. I mean she couldn't look after this precious little angel-devil. Not with the financial problems she was having let alone not knowing how to look after a demon with that kind of power. Maybe just maybe these people can.

I mean who wouldn't want her. She doesn't cry or complain. She's at that age where she can listen to instructions. She can't look after this 6 year old anymore. She knelt down and looked at the little girl. "honey I know this seems scary and I know you might be worried but these people can look after you like I can't. Please be good for them"

The little girl nodded her small head of acknowledgement. "why can't I stay with you mama. I'm such a good girl" tears started to prick the child's eyes

As the mother's eyes pricked and stinged with tears she started into her daughters emerald green eyes "sweetie it's not that you can't stay with me it's that I can't look after you but these people can. I'm sorry. I love you." She hugged her daughter for the very last time.

She knocked on the large double doors and ran off. Hopefully they wouldn't mind me dropping off this cutie. As she entered the streets she clutched her ribs and tried to used her iratze rune but yet again it failed. She ended up in the new York institute just in time before she could say another word she fell silent. One last breath leaving her lungs.

Back at the apartment:

Magnus place his drink down on the kitchen table shouting out into the loft. "Alec are you expecting someone today."

Alec shouted back in a confused tone "no babe, it's my day off I wanted to spend it with you" they were both just as confused as each other. They both walked up to the door and as they opened it they saw the cutest child ever.

Magnus reached for the little girls hand but she flinched In a way only Magnus knew all too well and bent down to meet her eyes "hi sugar plum would you like to come in. We wouldn't want you freezing now would we?" Shyly the girl nodded in agreement hesitant at first walking into a strangers home but remembered her mama said she would be safe here.

Magnus and Alec shared a glance of worry and confusion until Alec piped up "hey sweetie, what's your name and who dropped you off here. Take your time if you need it okay?"

The little girl nodded and took a deep breath before mumbling "my name is versa. My mama dropped me off and she said I would be safe and you could look after me..." She then hung her head in embarrassment.

Magnus walked away looking for his drink and phone so he could call every warlock to see who she belonged to Alec knelt down to her height "don't worry darling we will find your mum okay?" She nodded back.

Alec walked up to Magnus hoping he had luck finding her mum but he shook his head in disappointment. They went up to veris to tell her the bad news but Magnus had a better idea he knelt down like before "hi sugar plum, how would you like to stay here while we find your mum" she nodded as if talking would get her in trouble.

Magnus used his magic to set up her new room and she giggles and jumped on her new bed with joy "thank you misters"

They smiled in contempt at her "call me Magnus and this one Alec that's our names" Magnus then walked up to her and tucked her into bed. Magnus then waved his hand to make a little moon and cloud night light for her.

Magnus and Alec then went into the kitchen to discuss what was going to happen. "Magnus how long is she going to stay? She clearly doesn't have a mum and her dad isn't anywhere to be seen. Or maybe...."

Magnus looked just as confused as when the little girl uh veris first came to the loft "or maybe what Alec?"

Alec had the cute smile where he thought of an idea that he thought was good but no one knew until the outcome "we could if it's okay with you...keep her. I mean clearly no one wants her and this could be a great opportunity to be dad's and we'd be great dad's." He rambled

Magnus just stared at him happily and contempt and finally he sighed "Alec of course we can keep her but we have to keep looking for her parents at least for another few weeks." They agreed.

Two weeks later:

Magnus woke up to versa jumping on him and no Alec next to him he laughed and started to tickle her. She laughed til a little spark happend which stopped Magnus in his tracks he got out of bed and dressed "sorry sugar give me a couple mins and we can play I just have to call Alec okay?" She nodded and went to get dressed

Magnus found his phone and quickly called Alec.
The phone call:

Magnus: Alec

Alec: Magnus? What's wrong?

Magnus: it's versa-

Alec: is she okay?

Magnus: she's fine. But I think she's a warlock.

Alec' why do you think that??

Magnus: well I was tickling her after she woke me up and sparks flew from her.

Alec: really?

Magnus (sarcastically): no I called you at work to make up a story. YES obviously.

Alec: well at least we know what she is.

Magnus: that's true. Do you think she knows?

Alec: I'm not sure have a talk with her and we can discuss what happens next when I get home.

Magnus: okay see you tonight.
