Wei Wuxian thought he'd make a joke when he saw his brother enter the hall for breakfast, but he reconsidered. Both Jiang Cheng and Lan Xichen looked devastated.

- How are you, A-Cheng?  –   he threw formalities to the wind, today was not the time for those.

- Why are you people constantly asking the same question?!  -  Jiang Cheng growled.  –   I am fine. I will be fine.

He let himself be pulled into Zewu-Jun's lap, not caring about anything any more, but to be close to his husband, as much as possible. They hugged, brushing their cheeks against each other as they did, smiling.

- I must say, Lan Xichen, I am surprised to see you so... emotional.  –   Lan Wangji frowned. He was not sure he approved of this new development in his brother's life.

Lan Xichen frowned, and his grip on his husband's body tightened.

- Say what you need to say, Wangji.  –   he mumbled.

This was the moment the servants entered to bring in the food. Wei Ying was having fun – the Lan brothers fighting over his brother?  This was not something to be seen every day! He started eating, not waiting on the others, and too happy his sons were still asleep  –  he knew that the levels of noise and wailing would soon soar up to the skies.

- What I mean to say, Zewu-Jun...  -  Lan Zhan started sharply.  -   ...is that I am surprised to see such poor judgement on your part. Sandu Shengshou, you must know this is not personal.  –   he added coolly.

Jiang Cheng huffed, drinking on some tea  –   Wei Wuxian raised an eyebrow, it was getting interesting. He dared not interrupt his husband; he knew better when it came to family affairs. Lan Wangji had very particular principles when it came to the Gusu Lan Clan.

- Perhaps you have forgotten, Brother, but I will never forget how another big love of yours almost destroyed you, not too long ago. How you threw yourself into the war, hoping  –  what? to die?  –   Lan Zhan was hissing through gritted teeth.

Lan Xichen grew very pale, and lowered his eyes, listening carefully.

- Have you forgotten him? Jin Guangyao? The traitor? The murderer?

Wei Ying bit his lip. It was not fun any more; it was getting rather dark.

- Ahh, Lan Zhan! Why must you be so gloom and doom at breakfast!  –  he pouted.  –   It is still so early! I think everyone needs to calm down now, and be thankful that Jiang Cheng is fine again. – he huffed.  –   Although I am not too sure I am!   –   he added, grinning.

Jiang Cheng ignored him totally.

He growled, turning to face Lan Wangji now:

- Zewu-Jun has not forgotten. I have not forgotten either, Hanguang-Jun. But, for the life of me, I cannot see how this should be any of your  concern. Or are you the meddling fool I have always known you to be?  –  he frowned and jumped to his feet.

- Wanyin...  -   Lan Xichen had not realized that he had loosened his grip on his lover's body and was now reaching out to him, fearing a fight. Jiang Cheng had no chances in a fight with his brother.

Lan Wangji was standing tall too, now approaching his brother-in-law and ignoring Wei Wuxian's jokes about how everybody was tired and nervous, but needed to chill now. Despite all, both Lan Xichen and Wei Wuxian were absolutely ready to jump to their husbands and pull them away from a brawl.

The two men were facing each other, and it was rather a battle of wills as both knew well that neither would step down for the world.

- Sandu Shengshou...  -   Lan Zhan hissed.  –  ...I am not sure you realize just how fragile and vulnerable my brother is right now. This accursed wedding should never have happened!

- Hanguang-Jun...  - Jiang Cheng was hissing back.  –  ...I am not sure it is any of your business. I am not commenting on the melodramatic and  noisy  relationship you have with my brother, so I will also appreciate it if you stay away from mine!

- My brother does not need an advocate, Sandu Shengshou. He is the Clan Leader. And you... you are a  ...diplomatic solution!  –   he spat out, looking down on him with something close to disgust.

- And you are neither, Hanguang-Jun.  -   Jiang Cheng mocked.  –   Or am I wrong? What are you these days? Ahh, I know! A housewife!!!
