The Boy is Mine

The rest of the week went by pretty uneventful, you tried to avoid Carlos as much as possible, baring the odd chat or two where you needed to chat about his schedule or arrange dates for him and his new girlfriend, even though it bitterly ground your tits to do it. It was your job...

You just had so many strange emotions going through your mind, making it hard to focus on the job at hand, and Isa hanging on Carlos like a bad odor didn't make things any easier for you.

You spent your time working out, eating healthy, doing your work, and just generally focusing on yourself. But, ever so often, you would find your thoughts wandering to the devils in Carlos' eyes that you loved so much. These...these "feelings" that you were having were completely foreign to you, never mind the stir in your loins brought on every time Carlos just looked at you....can someone say....."Clean up, aisle seven?"

By now, it was Friday, and you were on your way to the garage, as usual, to start gearing Carlos up for the first free practice session of the season. You had just left your office, waving to all your Scuderia colleagues, when you felt the cold, hard grip of a hand on your wrist. It was Isa, and she didn't look too friendly.

You swear that her stare could turn a statue to salt for eternity. But she's your boss' girlfriend, so you have to be nice. "Y/n, I was just about to come and talk to you."

You smile sweetly (but fake). "Hey Isa, what can I do for you?"  Her face turned murder.

"You can keep you hands off my boyfriend for starters," she says crossing her arms across her chest and appears to want to engage in a stare down.

You frown, feeling guilty but look her square in the eye when you say, "Whatever do you mean Isa? I've got no idea what you are talking about."

She laughs at you with her nails-on-chalkboard laugh, "Ha! Rupert has been filling me in that you seem to spend a lot of time in Carlos' room at strange hours."

"Rupert? He has now, has he? I don't have to explain myself to you, if you have an issue with me being summoned to my boss' room to talk about work when he needs me, best you take it up with Carlos himself."

She looks at you slightly defeated and threatens you. "I can make your life very difficult, you know?

You laugh out loud, much to her annoyance. "I.don't.scare. easily. And keep your lapdog bitch on a leash and out of my affairs. Perhaps you should be more careful when you drunk dial Carlos while you drape yourself over foreign dignitries, that shit is never attractive."

While she stands gaping at you with her mouth open, you turn on your heels and walk away like you've just dropped the mic on her. By now, you can admit to yourself that you are feeling well-satisfied even though your mind is racing at a million miles per second.

Carlos, Lando and Charles chat before you approach the garage.

Charles touches Carlos on his shoulder. "Mate, I tell you, I'm beginning to think you're making a massive mistake.

"What do you mean?" He quizzically asks Charles.

By now Lando pipes in. "I'm telling you, she nearly ripped Rupert another one after you and Isa left that night. He wanted to hug her or something. She was very upset and all but bared her teeth at him. Something about a note."

Immediately all three drivers go quiet when Rupert enters the room. He is feeling sullen and not really in the mood to be around Carlos. Things aren't made easier by the fact that Isa is here, draping herself over Carlos like a cheap pashmina.

He shakes it off and starts preparing Carlos for free practice.

With a jump in your step you reach the back of the garage, to wish Carlos luck before the first fp session. Your smile morphs into a firm set mouth like running putty over your face when you see he's with Rupert.

You put a fake smile on your face and reach them. "Ciao a tutti, are you boys ready for today?" Carlos spins around with a smile on his face, but then notices your icy glare at Rupert.

"Hola chica. The question is are you ready to be thrilled from the garage?"

You flash him your brightest smile. "Born ready Sainz," you say as you wink at him and hand him his drink.

Rupert tries his best to get back into your good books and asks, "Will you be joining me in the Ferrari garage to watch FP1?"

Not wanting to make a meal out of it and have Carlos ask you more questions, you reply, "Yeah, I have some other work to do, but will keep an eye how for the prancing horses. I'll see you there."

And with that Rupert dismisses himself, heading inside.

Carlos comes toward you, and before you two can engage in another private session with Isa creeping up on you, you say "I'll start on the flight arrangements and hotel bookings for Australia, do you have any particular requests?"

He looks at you intently, "Yes, I want you to fly with me to Australia. It will just be the two of us, and when we arrive, Rupert and some of the other drivers will join us in staying at Daniel's pad. Isa will just be there on the Sunday for the race."

You make some mental notes about what he just said, and say "On it. See you afterwards."

As you leave Carlos you say hello to Fred and then grab a spot, putting headphones on so you can listen to FP1 while making travel arrangements. You give the pilots the flight schedule and upon checking the flight time you notice that you'll be alone with Carlos for more than 17 hours as you fly from Jeddah to Melbourne for the next race.

The thought sends both panic and deep satisfaction to your belly's core. What on earth are you going to do to keep yourselves busy? You are not sure if you are afraid or feeling good about it. For one, you'll miss chatting with Lucy during the flight, catching up on girly stuff, but on the other hand you are deeply relieved that it will mean some peace of mind away from Isa and whatever is going on with her.

It wasn't an easy weekend for the Ferrari team with the two boys battling tyre degradation, but at least they managed to score some good points. You leave the track as soon as possible and head to the hotel to say goodbye to Lucy. She's heading home for a bit to London, while she prepares to travel to Australia again in a week.

After you've both packed, you wish her a good trip and head to the airport, not knowing how to feel.
