[Chapter 1: Earth's Universal Language]
[RegTheRag I gave up on the idea since I kept getting stuck on chapters :')]
"Turn off your translator."
Vok'Rul looked at Viktor with varying stages of disbelief. He responded with a heavy sigh, "You heard what I said, didn't you? Your translator. Off. Give it to me." Viktor held out one of his hands to emphasize what he was saying.
"Why??" Vok'Rul incredulously asked, both of his clawed hands darting to hover above the one earpiece he very much cherished. He gave his friend a pleading look, but when it was returned with a flat stare, he grumbled.
"Don't ask me 'Why'-" Viktor took notice of Vok'Rul's little flinch. He guessed that his translator crackled, "-Vok'Rul, you were the one who wanted to learn-" Vok'Rul jolted once again. When everything fell silent, he turned to Viktor, only to find him carefully examining his facial expression.
"..As you can probably understand by now, the translator tends to make that" Viktor imitated the sound Vok'Rul heard, "noise every once in a while. I want you to learn-" Another jolt, "-...ity's Universal Language, but clearly, the translator can't properly translate an unknown word."
Viktor held out his hand once again, his head motioning to Vok'Rul's earpiece. "I'll teach you the basics first, you can trust me. I mean, I trusted you; don't you think it's time I paid you back?"
Vok'Rul rolled his eyes but complied, "You can barely speak Vokkran, Kohgrash."
"Hush," Viktor smiled, carefully taking the other's earpiece and hiding it in his pocket.
"Let's start with the Alphabet," Vok'Rul looked at him strangely for a moment, to which, Viktor responded with a simple smile. He looked around his room and spotted a notebook, stretching towards it (much to Vok'Rul's amusement) and humming at the pen sitting dutifully inside of it. He shrugged it off as something his dad did before clicking it (he spotted Vok'Rul looking at it curiously).
"Here's how you pronounce them."

ㅤRulshkka never thought he'd be more grateful for the translator until now.
Throughout the entire time Kohgrash - or, well, Victor - was teaching him their "Yu'nii'ber'sal Lan'g'oo'ay'j," Rulshkka was stuttering over simple words the entire time. He was simply frustrated, is all; Why are there so many variations for a single word? And why are they called "si'noh'nim'z"? ..Actually, that kind of fits them.
But really, why are there so many variations to saying "Rhosh"?
"....ul?"
Aren't at least 2 enough?
"Vo...l?"
And don't get him started on "Zhesh"-
"RULSHKKA!"
He was then promptly jolted out of his thoughts.
"Hhh.. Rhosh?" He awkwardly greeted his friend, earning a very tired look in return. He gave the least reluctant smile (which was really just a small curve added to pursed non-existent lips) he could muster.
"Vok'Rul," Kohgrash - Victor, Rulshkka corrected himself - then proceeded to say other stuff he couldn't exactly put into words. Something like "Ah'ee noh'ww it'z hard bu'ht yu ha'f to t'rah'ee" and "It waz'nt e'zee for me ah'ee'th'er bu'ht Ay'm do'eeng pre'tee weh'll." Overall, Koh-Victor wasn't saying anything Rulshkka could understand.
Not yet, at least.
"Lhe't'z coh'n'tin'yu." Oh. Well, he supposed that he could understand that; Victor (Rulshkka was proud of himself for starting to properly use Victor's actual name) mainly said those words whenever he wanted to continue on. He supposed that it meant "vherk ik'rrsh," right?
Rulshkka wondered if learning "Jher'mann" would be any different than this. He heard that this certain human language was the most difficult to learn; would it be any different to learning "In'g'lish"?
