a winter day. I was bundled up in my boyfriend's hoodie with a pair of slightly ripped jeans, a black pair of leggings underneath them. I was walking down the sidewalk on my way to walker's house. his sister Leena called me a half hour before telling me walker was sick with a cold. obviously, I got him some snacks, hot chocolate, chicken noodle soup. you know the basics. he didn't live far from my house, only a street down.
as I arrived, I knocked on the door waiting for tanner, Leena, or either one of his parents to open the door. finally, after a few minutes of waiting tanner opened the door. he looked at me matching my height, he was 11 and as tall as me a 13-year-old, it was honestly sad. "Walkers upstairs in his room" tanner, moved over letting me in the house which I spent most of my time at. "Thank u little brother!" I messed his hair up with my free hand. tanner was always like a little brother to me, and Leena was an older sister or best friend to me. I was homeschooled so; I never really had the chance to make friends but me and Leena kind of just clicked like puzzle pieces. And me and walker, man that's another story.
Anyway, I walked up the stairs and walked past a door, which was the connecting bathroom then the next was walker's bedroom. I softly knocked and he raised his head but plotted it back down. " what's wrong walkie." I sat down beside him. "Now is not the time for nicknames y/n" he groaned back at me. I walked to his bed and sat on the edge of his bed. I looked to his bedside table to find a pile of tissues and a few empty bowls of chicken noodle soup, a couple half full cups of water, coke, sprite, some juices.
I took his hand and softly brushed over it with mine. I grabbed the bag full of cans of soup, drinks, and candy. " Look, I got your favorite gummy worms." he weakly smiled at me and grabbed the candy. "I'm sorry i got ill with you." "it's okay, I know you don't feel good, do you want to just cuddle and watch a movie?'' I asked him. " Yea come here. " He scooted over to let me in his bed. I grabbed his remote and turned on a random movie on Disney plus. he snaked his arms around my waist and pulled the heated blanket on top of us . he nuzzled his head in the crook of my neck. i turned over so he was laying on my chest. i played with his curly hair while he drifted off to sleep. " i love you y/n" i heard him mumble into my neck. his raspy voice made my neck tickle when he said that. " i love you too" i replied. i smiled to myself. i think im in love. with my best friend, I'm not complaining about it. im happy, for the first time in a long time. I'm actually happy.
