Rachel dreaded school. She felt her heart pump in her throat as she entered her school. Security checked her bag and her jewelry. Today, she was going to a teacher's room to make up any missing schoolwork she had. Unfortunately, to get to that room she had to go up the very stairs that Miguel had fallen on.

She slowly walked to the stairs and grabbed the stairwell, but she froze. She saw Miguel falling again, and herself screaming. She saw Robby running away. She saw Tory's regretful face. She saw the whole scene again.

Hawk walked up to Rachel and he saw her frozen in place. He put a hand on her shoulder. She gasped and quickly grabbed his wrist. Her chest heaved as she stared at him, slowly realizing she wasn't in the school fight anymore.

"Woah, Rach, calm down, you're okay." She gulped as she let go of his hand.

"I can't do this." Hawk shook his head.

"You're Rachel Lawrence, you can do anything." Hawk walked up the stairs with Rachel and delivered her to her designated classroom. She got most of her work done and she still had more time to finish her work after lunch.

She sat with Miyagi Do, along with Moon and Yasmine, but she didn't talk to them. She wasn't in the mood to. She thought about Miguel. She wasn't there to make sure he was okay. She hadn't been from his side in a little over three weeks.

Suddenly, Rachel felt her phone vibrate in her back pocket. She pulled it out and smiled as she saw that Miguel had texted her. It was as if he knew she was thinking about him.

Miggy💗:hey, ik ur at school rn but just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking about you and I can't wait to see you today🤍

"Who's text are you smiling at?" Demetri asked, which quickly made Rachel's smile fall.

"No one's." Moon and Yasmine smiled.

"Ooh, do you have a little boyfriend?" Yasmine asked.

"Or girlfriend?" Moon added.

"What? No!" Rachel chuckled awkwardly. Miguel and Rachel hadn't really said what they are. Rachel desperately needed to change the subject, she looked at the table in front of her. Demetri's science project. "What is this supposed to be, Demi?" Rachel asked, and Demetri happily explained. However, when he was explaining, Hawk threw a soccer ball onto it. She sighed.

"Oh. Pfft...I'm sorry, man. Looks like my ball just got away from me." Hawk lied, seemingly forgetting that Rachel was there.

"That took me three weeks to build," Demetri muttered, his shoulders tense with frustration.

"Eh, took my ball three seconds to destroy." He smirked.

"Hawk!" He froze. Shit; he thought. He had indeed forgotten that Rachel was there. "Why don't you leave him the hell alone?" Rachel watched Hawk draw in a sharp breath before he walked away. Then, Demetri walked up to him. "Okay, I'm not doing this fighting shit on my first day back." Moon giggled.

"Sam, I can't help you with this! You guys are the ones who decided to fight Cobra Kai while playing soccer." Rachel answered as Sam trailed behind her as they left after school.

"But I have Saturday detention, actually two Saturday detentions." Sam pleaded as if Rachel could revoke Counselor Blatt's decision.

"Sam, Hawk has nerdy kid privilege. He's spent his whole life going to the counselor, he knows how to manipulate teachers to believe he's innocent. You can't fight him at school, you gotta fight him outside of school." Sam nodded. "As for your detentions, there's nothing I can do about it. You'll have to take one for the team." Sam frowned as Rachel walked past her car. No matter how many times Sam asked, Rachel wouldn't tell her where she was going. She suspected the hospital but Rachel said she wasn't.

But, Rachel had lied. It was becoming easier and easier to lie to Sam. Before, it was seemingly impossible. Rachel walked inside the hospital, she'd grabbed food from Miguel's house as his Ya-Ya had asked. She smiled as she set the food in one of the chairs.

"Hey, Miggy." Miguel perked his head up as he heard Rachel's smooth voice.

"Hey, Rach." He smiled brightly, Rachel did that to people. She was just one of those people who made everyone laugh, someone who made everyone smile, someone who you could actually be yourself around. "What's that?" He asked, pointing to the bag.

"Ya-Ya asked me to bring some food from your house." Rachel sat down on the end of Miguel's bed. "So, what've you been doing?" She asked, Miguel, shrugged.

"What I always do, watch TV and play stupid games on my phone." Miguel sighed. "Did you have a better day than I had at school?" Rachel scoffed.

"No, it's school." Miguel chuckled.

"It's better than being stuck here all day." Rachel shrugged.

"If you were there then school would be less dreadful." Miguel smiled.

"Really?" He asked in a cocky tone.

"Really," Rachel answered, smiling.

"Trust me, I wanna be at school too, but I don't know if the surgery even worked and it'd probably take forever before I could even walk again." Rachel grabbed Miguel's hand, interlacing their fingers.

"You're just like me, Miggy, once you set your mind to something, you're able to accomplish it," Rachel reassured him.

"Is that how I got a date with you?" Rachel playfully rolled her eyes.

"Gosh, you're cocky today." He laughed. "I gotta go to the bathroom, I'll be back." Miguel nodded, and only moments after she left Johnny walked in.

Rachel finished up in the bathroom and walked back to Miguel's room. When she reached his room, she saw her dads back. Just beyond him was Miguel on the floor.

"What the hell?!" She shouted, pushing past her dad.

"No, it's okay Rach!" Miguel chuckled a bit.

"Don't worry, I got him," Johnny grunted a bit as he picked up Miguel and put him back into the hospital bed.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?!" Rachel shouted, pushing her dad.

"Calm down, Rachel." Rachel clenched her jaw angrily. He couldn't hurt Miguel, and he was telling Rachel to calm down?!

"It's okay, Rach, he's trying to help." Rachel quickly turned to Miguel. Did he not realize he could've been hurt?

"You could've gotten hurt, Miguel." She responded sternly.

"I wouldn't have let him get hurt," Johnny announced quickly, Rachel looked between him and Miguel.

"You don't have to worry about me, Rach." Rachel felt her shoulders fall. How could she not worry about him? She'd always worried about him. She'd always looked out for him and always had his best interest in mind.

"Okay." Rachel looked as if boulders had fallen from her shoulders, but in reality, it was only the responsibility she felt over Miguel. However, if Miguel told her he didn't need protection then Rachel wouldn't protect him anymore.
