“Name?”
“Uh.” She paused. “Sakura Haruno.” She had momentarily forgotten her name as she had been doing so for the past year she was here.
“Age?”
“17.”
The receptionist eyed her quickly up and down with a raised eyebrow. The sight of the head of a fox on a petite frame never failed to make heads turn in her direction, even though she wasn’t the only abnormality here.
“Guardians?”
“None.”
“Blood type?”
“O.”
“Height?”
“160cm.”
“Weight?”
“50kg.”
“Eye color?”
“Is all of this really necessary?”
She received a blank look in return. “Green.”
After another 15 minutes of useless questions, Sakura finally finished her form for applying to U.A. The principal, Nezu-ojisan as she liked to call him, had asked her to attend U.A so he could keep a close eye on her. The two had hit off immediately a year ago when he found Sakura on the outskirts of the city, near the site where an entire town had been razed to the ground. By the time the Heroes had arrived, there was nothing left. Those who heard of the blast said it sounded like a large bomb had been dropped there. The weird thing was that the town had never been there in the first place. The only thing that told of the town was the sight of rubble and over hundreds of skeletons.
Nezu found Sakura unconscious under a tree near the site. When he woke her up, she was scared, confused and angry. She refused to accept his help. He left her his business card. A few days later, she had arrived on his doorstep with a resigned and defeated air about plus a severe case of amnesia. Apparently, she didn’t remember much except waking up to Nezu’s face. Nezu didn’t ask about how she had happened to be near the site in a battered state. Sakura didn’t even know how to answer even if she was asked because she didn’t know herself.
She quickly made her way to the hospital. Her shift was due an hour ago. Her teacher, Ren-senpai, was not going to be pleased. She passed by the reception, greeting the blonde who sat there with a smile and a wave. She made her way to her locker and took out her coat before rushing to room 305 where Ren-senpai would be waiting for her.“You’re late,” the older woman said. “I’m so sorry, I had to submit my application form before Nezu-ojisan decided to do it himself, which would be considered unheroic,” she apologized. She still found it weird that you had to be licensed to be able to use your quirk. It meant that you had to wait for a pro hero to rescue someone when there was danger. If the hero was late... For some reason, she felt entitled not to obey that one rule. No one would stop her if she had a chance to help someone. She wouldn't mind breaking a few laws if it meant saving someone's life, despite being one of the most law-abiding persons she knew.
“Be glad Kyudai-san wasn’t here otherwise he would roast you,” Ren said. “I don’t know senpai. Kyudai-san seems a bit too interested in me,” the girl said with a hint of uneasiness. “Don’t be such a wimp. This isn’t what I taught you when dealing with older men,” she replied teasingly. “It’s not like that. I don’t mean in a perverted way. I just…” she trailed. “If I were him, I’d understand him. It’s not every day you see a person with an enhancing quirk like yours. Not to mention martial arts style that can defeat anyone without really trying,” Ren spoke as she moved to inspect the patient on the bed. “Plus your speed, brains, flexibility-“
“I know,” Sakura replied, cutting her midway her sentence. ‘Something just feels off about him,’ she said mentally. “Okay, let’s start your medical exam.”
“Now Sakura I want you to be good in class. You are being placed in the first class of the first years. I had your room made so you’ll decorate it however you want,” Nezu said as the two made their way to the dormitories. “I feel like it’s cheating,” Sakura spoke as she dragged her suitcase behind her. “I’m the principal. I do whatever I want,” he replied. “Yeah yeah, Nezu-ojisan,” she retorted. “I’m not that old, you know,” he said. “I know,” she said with a smile.
“You guys, did you hear?!” Mina exclaimed as she slammed her hands on the table. “What?” Ochaco asked. “You’re not gonna believe this!” she squealed excitedly as she jumped in her seat. “Just say it already!” Mineta shouted from where the boys were seating on a different table eating lunch. “I wasn’t talking to you pervert,” she snapped with a glare. “If you have something to say, you better say it now before we lose interest,” Jirou said boredly as she chewed on her sandwich. “Okay okay, give me a drumroll,” the pink skinned girl said. “We have a new student in class 1A and it’s a girl!” “Oh, really? That’s great. What’s her name?” Toru asked as the girls leaned forward to listen to Mina.
On the other side of the lunchroom, Mineta was speaking eagerly to the boys. “Did you guys hear? There’s a new student in our class and it’s a girl,” he said with a wide grin. “Don’t get any perverted ideas. It is unbecoming to do that especially to a new classmate,” Iida said sternly as he shifted his glasses. “I shall do the honours of paying her a visit to welcome her to class 1A,” he said. “Isn’t that Deku’s job as class rep?” Eijirou asked. “Don’t worry. We’ll be paying her a visit after class so no need to,” Mina said, who had arrived at the boys’ table. “I’ve got my eyes on you. Don’t try anything funny,” she said with a pointed look to Mineta who waved her off.
Sakura closed her eyes in concentration as she saw flares of different colours arrive at the dormitory. She called it their life force. She could sense someone’s life force like it was second nature. She had never told anyone about that particular skill of hers. She had searched it on the internet and discovered that it was called chakra. And so she called it chakra. She expected that all her classmates would want to see her considering she was new. There had never been a new student in class 1A. Everyone would want to know the student Nezu allowed to join his school at such late times and go in 1A. ‘3, 2, 1,’ she counted mentally. She had a knock at her door. ‘Time to get this over with,’ she sighed.
She walked to the door and opened. “Hey you guys” she said with a smile. Everyone screamed.
