Lizzie couldn't stop smiling after hearing Y/N's words. They didn't know it yet but she will wait as long as she needed to. Knowing that it is possible. She was also pissed at Hailee for playing them like she did. She made the whole stink up of trying to beat Lizzie and it really hurt Y/N.
She knew she had to apologise. Make things right. Mend her friendship. That was how she found herelf at LAX waiting for her flight to Florida. Well the first race is in a few weeks time and she usually flies out to support them. But now she is going earlier.
Scar had already given her Y/N's address. So she decided to go straight there. Early morning since she had a late flight. She found herself knocking rapidly on their door.
"Lizzie?" Y/N question as they stepped aside. "What are you doing here?" Lizzie followed them into the kitchen before she spoke.
"I need to apologise. I can't live with you hating me." She told them as they shook their head as they made a fresh coffee.
"I don't hate you Lizzie." Y/N told her with a soft smile. "You brought my jacket." They smiled as they noticed Lizzie wearing it.
"I did." She said softly. "I miss you Y/N. I didn't mean for it to get too far with Hailee. I shouldn't have started with her childish games."
"Lizzie." Y/N tried to stop her ramblings.
"But I couldn't think of you with her. You deserve to be with someone who doesn't think that this is a game, because it isn't." Lizzie carried on. Y/N just took a leap and pulled her in for a hug. Holding her close as she kept mumbling quiet I'm sorry over and over again.
"I forgive you." Y/N told her. "I do. You are my best friend and I have missed you so fucking much."
"I am sorry Y/N/N." She whispered as she wiped her eyes.
"Hey. It's ok." Y/N told her before seeing her bags in there vision. "Do you want to stay here or do you have a hotel booked?"
"I can book a hotel." She told them as they shook their head. Taking her bag with her trailing behind.
"I'm sorry it's only a one bedroom apartment so I can take the sofa." Y/N told her.
"No. I couldn't do that. I'll take the sofa." Lizzie said as Y/N shook their head.
"We can compromise." Y/N spoke softly. "We can share."
"No." Lizzie whispered. "I can't trust myself with sharing a bed."
"We have shared a bed plenty of times Lizzie." Y/N reasoned with her.
"That was before you knew how I really feel." Lizzie whispered.
"That doesn't change our friendship Elizabeth." Y/N told her. "So we share the bed or I take the sofa. They are the only two options you have so take your pick."
"We can share." She whispered as Y/N smirked.
"Good. Now get showered. You're coming with me to the track. We have practice before the first race in a couple of weeks." Y/N told her with a smirk.
Lizzie just watched as Y/N left the room before she got her things ready for a shower. Smiling like an idiot. As much as she loved seeing Y/N practice, her heart pounded in her chest whenever she watched them drive. It scared her because she couldn't think of what her life would be like without Y/N. It hurt her too much to even ponder the possibility.
"Are you almost done Liz?" Y/N called down the hall.
"Yeah." Lizzie finished putting on her sneakers before she met Y/N down the hall. She smiled nervously at them as they opened the door for her. Lizzie got in the car as Y/N opened the passenger side for her before walking to the drivers side.
"I am happy you are here Lizzie." Y/N told her as they drove.
"Me too." Lizzie smiled at them before she turned to look out of the window. As many times as she had been here, she still loves seeing the place. "I am still nervous about watching you drive."
"You always are." Y/N chuckled as Lizzie just glared at there amusement. "I have done this job for a decade now Lizzie. It's something that comes natural to me. Just like you and acting."
"I know." Lizzie whispered. "But it still doesn't stop the fear."
"I know." Y/N replied as they pulled up. "But I will be fine. I haven't crashed yet."
"Don't you dare say that." Lizzie told them.
"I didn't take you as the superstitious type." Y/N teased as they walked through the building.
"I'm not superstitious. I am just being realistic." Lizzie told them.
"I'm joking Lizzie." Y/N told her as they made it to the pit. "Just wait here while I change."
"Ok." Lizzie smiled at them before she took a seat. She waited for around 10 minutes before Y/N emerged from the locker room. All ready in their racing suit.
"Come on." Y/N led her to the pit. Lizzie's heart pounding as she saw the car.
"Are you ready Y/N?" The Crew Chief told them. "We have an hour training slot before we hit the gym."
Y/N nodded as they put on the helmet. Climbing into the car and strapping themselves in.
"Good luck Y/N." Lizzie smiled.
"You really are proving me right about the whole superstitious thing." They teased making her chuckle.
"Just drive." She told them with a chuckle. Watching as they left the pit. She watched as they done the one thing that made them happy. Made them complete. She wanted to share every happy moment they had with them. Every last one.
