Solen was washing the dishes when she felt a tug on her shirt. It was her son, Shawn.
"Mom, can I ask you something?" Shawn asked.
"Sure, sweetie. What is it?" Solen replied.
"Can you tell me how you and Daddy met?" Shawn asked, his eyes wide with curiosity.
Solen was taken aback. Shawn had never shown an interest in her and Van's love story before.
"Why do you want to know, honey?" she asked.
"I found an old picture of you and Dad, and you both looked really happy," Shawn explained.
Solen smiled. "Well, I'd be happy to tell you the story. Come on, let's sit down in the living room."
Shawn eagerly took a seat on the couch, and Solen joined him.
"Okay, so it all started when I was in college," Solen began, launching into her story.
FLASHBACK
Solen was a college student, young, carefree, and a bit wild. She was out at a party, drinking tequila and having a good time. As she stumbled out to the parking lot, she felt a sharp pain in her head.
"Ugh, not now," she groaned to herself and get in her car.
As Solen was about to close the door of her car, she noticed a hand stopping her from doing so. She looked up and saw the three men in front of her car, all grinning.
"Hi miss, just give me your wallet, cellphone, and this beautiful car and I won't kill you," the man with a blue shirt said. Her heart began to pound as she saw a knife held by the other guy.
"No way!" Solen said, trying to sound confident despite feeling scared.
The man in the blue shirt laughed. "Come on miss, don't make this harder than it needs to be. We don't want to hurt you."
Solen could feel her hands shaking as she tried to come up with a plan. "I don't have any money or valuables on me," she said, hoping they would believe her.
"Is that so?" the man with the knife said, stepping closer to her. "Then why don't we take a look for ourselves?"
Solen took a step back, feeling more scared than ever. "Please, just leave me alone," she said, her voice trembling.
But the men didn't listen. They moved closer, surrounding her. "Don't worry miss, we'll make it quick," the man with the blue shirt said.
Solen knew she had to act fast. She slammed the car door shut as hard as she could, causing one of the men to shout out in pain. She quickly got into the driver's seat and drove away as fast as she could.
But the men weren't giving up that easily. They got onto their motorcycles and began following her. Solen's heart raced as she drove faster and faster, but she soon realized that she had lost her way.
She found herself driving through a dense forest, her fuel running dangerously low. She could hear the motorcycles getting closer, so she decided to abandon her car and run on foot.
