After knowing the truth, Jung Tae had blown up not because he cared for Jennie. It was simply because he hated the fact that he had been deceived.
It was the kind of anger that burst out especially from a conceited man who thought he had the authority but later found out he had actually been used by his partner and that she was not as good as he had thought. In fact, she had committed a lot of nasty things behind his back. He even realized he had never really known her well all the while.
"Mother...!" When Yu-min saw Song Ji-Hye fall down, she hurriedly helped herself up from the floor and stumbled her way to her mother.
Song Ji-Hye fell on the floor. She grunted in pain. In fact, panic got the better of her. She never thought Jung Tae would not believe her, and she felt a sense of crisis like never before.
"Mother, are you alright?" Yu-min also wondered why a sudden change had happened to her family. Her father, who had been doting on them, struck them both today.
Yu-min was weeping miserably. She held onto her final straw, Song Ji-Hye while hoping to get an anchor to her slipping sanity.
"I'm fine." Song Ji-Hye struggled to get herself up from the floor. When she was about to say something to salvage the situation, Jung Tae had already extended his wicked hand at Yu-min.
"Mother!" Yu-min was shocked when she was grabbed by Jung Tae all of a sudden. She shrieked, seeking help from Song Ji-Hye.
As soon as Song Ji-Hye heard Yu-min's shout, she immediately looked up and was greeted by the sight of Jung Tae grabbing Yu-min's wrist and dragging her up, like what he had done to her before. Jung Tae raised his hand and was about to strike Yu-min.
Song Ji-Hye's face turned ghastly pale. She desperately rushed over to Jung Tae, grabbed his hand and shouted hoarsely, "Don't! Jung Tae, don't do this! Yu-min is still a child. If you want, strike me instead! Don't make things difficult for her!"
Jung Tae abruptly turned to Song Ji-Hye when he felt his hand being grabbed by her. He stared at her and sneered, "A child?! I once thought she was just a child too. But, this child nearly killed my daughter, as well as almost ruined my life!"
"What?!" Song Ji-Hye widened her teary eyes to the extreme. She turned around and looked at Yu-min in shock.
Yu-min looked away out of guilt. She avoided meeting her gaze. Everything had become more apparent than before.
At that instant, Song Ji-Hye felt the world was spinning around her. Her daughter... had almost killed someone!
Song Ji-Hye let go of Jung Tae's hand. She staggered her way and lunged at Yu-min. She pulled her hand and asked anxiously, "Yu-min, what the hell is going on here? How could you plan to kill someone? Tell me. How can you... why..."
"Mother, I didn't kill anyone... I didn't..."
"If you didn't, why..."
Before Song Ji-Hye finished speaking, Jung Tae snorted. He tossed Yu-min to Song Ji-Hye's side.
Yu-min was already weak in her knees due to terror. As soon as Jung Tae let go of her, she nearly fell and sat on the floor.
"She didn't kill anyone. If she did, how could she still be sitting here and talking to us?!" Jung Tae shouted angrily, "She set up everything and almost caused Jennie to fall down from the elevator, or die inside the lift. After that, she was so stupid that she dug her own grave by admitting that she had intended to murder Jennie. Not only that, but Jennie had also recorded their dialogue and kept it as crime evidence. If the thing were to be handed over to the police, regardless of whether Yu-min killed anyone, she would have to go to jail!"
The more Jung Tae talked about it, the angrier he became. He picked up a lamp by his side and smashed it on the ground. While smashing the lamp, he cussed, "How can I have a daughter like you?! If I had known you would be such a burden to me when you grew up, I should not have contributed to your birth in the first place!"
Right after Jung Tae spoke, Song Ji-Hye's expression changed. All these years, apart from her own effort, she had also relied on her children to win Jung Tae's affection. Now, Jung Tae said that he had rather not contributed to Yu-min's birth, and this hurt Song Ji-Hye deeply.
While Song Ji-Hye was panicking and at a loss, Yu-min made things even worse. She looked up and said angrily, "Father, even if it's against your wish to contribute to my birth, it's already too late. You can't regret it anymore. I don't understand why suddenly everyone sided with that wench. Not only you, but Lisa does the same too. Before this... all of you had clearly disliked her! Why? Why did it turn out like this?!"
Yu-min widened her eyes so wide as if she wanted to devour him alive. Her face looked as hideous as a beast. "Indeed, I did something to the elevator. What right does the wench have to override me? I'm never inferior to that wench be it my looks, background, or qualification. Apart from losing to her in terms of the use of a dirty trick to give birth to a child, she's nothing like me! Why... Why does Lisa treat her so differently?! She must have employed some kind of tricks! Why didn't a disgraceful woman like her go to hell?!"
"Enough!" Jung Tae could not bear it anymore. He raised his hand and slapped Yu-min once again. "Disgraceful?! I think you're the disgraceful one instead! President Manoban is Jennie's husband. He's your brother-in-law. Yet, you had suggestive thoughts about him and even harmed Jennie because of this... You really are..."
"Yu-min..." Song Ji-Hye hurriedly went over and helped to carry Yu-min up. She wanted to dissuade her from speaking more. However, Yu-min pushed her to the side.
"You hit me?! How dare you strike me again?! You struck me because of that wench!" Yu-min covered her cheek and shouted loudly, "Why not?! She has divorced Lisa. They are divorced! They no longer have any relationship with each other! So, why not me?!"
"You!"
Yu-min ignored Jung Tae's anger. She mumbled to herself as if she had been possessed by a demon, "I'd planned everything well. The moment she enters the lift, and when the lift ascended to the top, the rope will break. Then, the lift will fall down from above and she will die, once and for all. But why? Why didn't the gods help me? Why did Lisa enter the lift with her?! It cannot be like this! It shouldn't be like this! One day, I'll certainly kill her! It's only between me and her!"
"You..."
"Yu-min, cut the crap!" Song Ji-Hye was very angry with her brainless daughter. The silly child knew that Jung Tae was boiling in rage, yet she still wanted to ask for death. Moreover, she had nearly dragged her down as well!
After shouting at Yu-min, Song Ji-Hye turned back and rushed over to Jung Tae. She clung to his thigh and cried in tears, "Jung Tae, don't be mad. Yu-min is young and innocent. She did it out of recklessness and emotions. Please help her. Help her... She's your daughter... She's still young, and she can't go to jail!"
