I couldn't move, as if I'm just standing not knowing what to do.
"You must be confused about how I got here, we're currently in your dreams" Chaser applauded.
I couldn't reply, but he began explaining something that made me feel thrilled. I had been created in a laboratory by some mad scientist who wanted to create life from dead tissue. My mother, it seemed, had died in childbirth and as such she had been unable to produce any viable eggs to be fertilized. So the doctor decided that he would create me using her own cells. He took samples of her blood and mixed them with chemicals and bodily fluids until he had created an embryo in which every cell contained at least a portion of my mother's genetic material.
"It's called somatic cloning, Xioa" Chaser said "The cells are taken from the original parent and then genetically reprogrammed to become a clone of that parent. This is done through chemical manipulation of the DNA."
He paused for a moment before continuing. "It was difficult to do that without killing your mother. If you were to do it today, the doctor would have used a different method. But back then, they did not know how to prevent damage to the host body. Even now, there is no sure way to ensure that all of the cells will survive."
"When did this happen?" I asked and there is no response. "Why can't I move?" Chaser turned and looked at me. "Like I said, we're currently in your dreams, inside your head"
"But why can't I move?" He sighed. "I don't really know. There is no reason, just a lot of speculation." Chaser replied. Just then a sharp pain in the side of my head was felt as if something was pushed into my flesh. I screamed, but nothing came out. I tried to call for help, but still I made no sound.
In pain, I looked at him. "You couldn't handle my existence just yet couldn't you, Xioa? Perhaps you're too weak for now" Chaser responded."His awakening is soon to come". Xioa opened his eyes, with tears in his eyes. Heavy breathing he is, he immediately stood up and got worried about Chaser.
"What is this weird feeling? Why am I suddenly worried?" Confused as he was, I suddenly heard a loud knock on the door. He got out of bed and walked towards the door. I opened it and saw a familiar figure standing on the doorway. "What..are you doing here?" I questioned. A few seconds passed by, I received a respond."Xioa, I'm glad that you're finally awake. I will explain why I'm present here later, but for now please come with me".
"Nathan, I'm confused, what's the meaning of this?" I responded with mere confusion. "Please, just come with me, Xioa". Nathan couldn't wait for my response, he decided to grab my arms and dragged me away from the room I was in. We ran along with in a narrow hallway leading to a suspiciously opened door. He turned his head and looked at me with a deadly glare.
"AH!-"
Nathan pushed me in, closed the door and left without a single word.
"HEY! WHY DID YOU PUSH ME!?" Though my voice was loud and clear—there was no response.
I turned around and tried my best to open the door, but it wouldn't budge. I decided to scream for help, but no one rescued me. Everything went dark, I almost cried. I can feel the breeze passing through my body, I feel empty inside.
"No...this is not the time to back out, I must do this".
I decided to face the present and proceeded into looking around the mid-lit room, dust particles floating around the room that can only be spotted once the light touches it. I tried to look through the room but I couldn't image any of my surroundings. Suddenly, a hint of voice echoed around the room, followed by a whisper. "Haven't you had enough, Xioa?".
My eyes went wide open, I turned around and saw a floating white cloth, or so do I thought. The figure suddenly resembles a human covered in white sheet of clothing, hinting that it must be Chaser.
