Alyssa knew how it was tense between her and Cal. She felt like there had been tension ever since Iain had asked her to leave with him and take the kids.

Alyssa knew how Cal was the one she wanted to be with. She knew they had been through a lot together. And it hadn't been easy at all.

She knew how she was going to do whatever she could to make Cal understand that she only wanted him and their two girls.

Alyssa knew she had something with Iain in the past. And she wanted to keep it there. Knowing she wasn't going to reignite what they had in the past.

All she knew was that things weren't simple. And she wished they were simple.

Morning came and she found herself in bed with Cal. He looked to her. "Morning."

"Hey. Look, can we be okay? I know what happened with Iain. But I only want you. You're the father of my kids. And I love you," she said.

"I love you too. I know it hasn't been easy. But I know we can make it work. We have to make it work," he told her with a smile.

"I hope so."

Alyssa and Cal went into work. Cal kissed her and walked off. Alyssa grinned as she saw Bailee. "Oh my god! What are you doing here?" She asked.

"Bella has a hole in her heart. Connie is the best cardio surgeon there is. So I wanted her to get the best," she said.

"Oh my god. Is she in there now?"

Bailee nodded. She smiled. "You can come and meet her on your break. Don't tell Iain I'm here though. He doesn't deserve to see her," she told her.

Alyssa smiled and nodded. She hugged her and smiled. "It's good to see you. I've missed you."

"I missed you too. I should get back in there. Charlie is with her so I'll see you later."

Alyssa groaned as a patient threw up on her. Cal walked over to her. He smiled. "I think you need to get changed," he said.

"Ya think? Bailee is back. She's got Bella here. So I'm going to meet her soon," she said.

Cal nodded. He looked to her and kissed her. "Id pull you close. But you stink," he told her as he turned and walked off.

Alyssa rolled her eyes but smiled. She went to get changed, knowing how she and Cal were trying to make it work.

Alyssa walked into the PICU. She saw Alyssa. "Hey. Where is she?" She asked.

"She's over here. She's honestly amazing. She has his face though. Which makes it hard as anything to love her."

"I can tell."

Alyssa smiled as she looked to Bella. She saw how small she was. "She's perfect. Do you want anymore?" She asked.

Bailee shook her head. "Not at all. This one is hard enough. But I love her. And I love being her mummy. How's it going with you and Cal?"

Alyssa sighed. "Iain has caused so much crap between us. And it's not easy," she told her.

Bailee smiled. "You just have to somehow talk to him. And make him see that. Don't let Iain ruin you both. Okay?"

"Okay."

But would it be that simple?
