The barons bear their arms and shanty a tale,
As from the Western Paldean shores,
Through seas never before sailed
They voyage, the Great Crater they stand before,
Through assaults and perils,
More than what can be fought by human force,
And unite distant peoples to proclaim
A New Age, and win undying fame.
Likewise the glorious memorial fire
Of kings that rose beyond simple leisures,
Spreading Faith and Empire,
Bringing ruin to Africa and Asia,
And those, who fought through the most dire
And freed themselves from death's fervour;
Their stories I shall spread wherever I go,
If art and ingenuity guide me so.
Boast no more of the wise Hoennese or the Galarian,
The great navigations from whence they came;
Forget Alexander and Trajan,
Their conquests and the subsequent fame;
For I sing of the illustrious Paldeans,
To whom Zacian and Kyogre laid acclaim:
Abandon all the ancient Meloetta revered,
A higher power has appeared.

I welcome you all to the product of a 3 year grudge against Pokémon for doing Galar dirty in both game and anime, as well as a genuine appreciation for Pokémon Scarlet as a game that's actually good. Whether the anime is as good as the games we will have to wait and see, however with new protagonists coming in it's only reasonable that we ignore them completely and keep Ash's eternal journey going for a bit longer.
I want to set myself to a standard of one update a week, even if the chapters end up short I'm gonna need to keep some amount of consistency otherwise this'll end up like 90% of the other stuff I make: unfinished.
Obviously not all of this is going to be in verse. That would drive me mad. This poem here is an adaptation of the opening 3 stanzas of The Lusiads, one of Iberia's most influential works of literature, basically the magnum opus of the country known as Not Spain. The book from here on will divert completely from that story.
Thanks for reading, stay safe tri-state area.
