"Who have I offended lately? Could it be... No way! It's impossible! How could President Manoban do this to me for that wench?! It's impossible!"
"Why is it not possible?" Song Ji-Hye looked at Yu-min as she went into another bout of massive self-denial. Finally, she could no longer hold back her anger. "I've already asked someone to investigate the matter. The news was first leaked out from President Manoban's secretary. Otherwise, how could those news spread so fast like a wildfire? If it weren't for someone backing the publishers up by fanning the flames behind the public curtains, with your identity as the young lady of the Kim family, do you think they would dare to report those stuff so brazenly even if they had the gods with them, and at the expense of offending the Kim family?!"
"How could this be... How could..." Yu-min was struck down heavily. The moment she learned that Lisa had long known about her past, and he had even reported her stuff for Jennie's sake to ruin her reputation, she felt very tormented, as if she had been skinned alive. Fury and madness at being betrayed sprouted from her heart.
"It has to be Jennie! It must be that wench who said something to President Manoban! She must have wanted to use President Manoban to avenge me! It must be like so! It has to be like so! Jennie is a wench! She is a wench! If I would have known about this earlier, I should have gotten rid of her when she was still in the Kim family! I should have gotten rid of her earlier!' Yu-min's eyes turned red. Her eyes were filled with hatred and resentment.
.
After Song Ji-Hye heard Yu-min's angry scream, her eyes sank. likewise, a trace of viciousness flashed across her eyes. However, she recovered to her normal self very soon. She heaved a sigh and said, "Alright, alright. I know you are feeling most aggrieved. But, now is a critical period. You have to put up with it for the time being. Don't simply run around. Once the fuss dies down, I'll send you abroad. You could hide there first. After one or two years, I'll bring you back. By then, no one would still remember your past."
"What?! Mother, you want to send me overseas?" As soon as Yu-min heard Song Ji-Hye's words, she immediately jerked up from the couch. "No! I'm not going! I don't want to go overseas at this moment."
"Yu-min..." Song Ji-Hye rose and walked to Yu-min's side. She advised her earnestly, "You know what's going on out there better than me. If you continue like this, you could hardly ever step out of the house, much less resume the carefree life you had before. Now, listen to me. Sending you abroad is just expedient. After some time when everyone has forgotten about this incident, I'll certainly bring you home right away."
Yu-min looked reluctant. She was against Song Ji-Hye's suggestion and after some time, only then did she give in to her. "Alright, then. Mother, remember to bring me home immediately by then. Also, you must not spare that wench!"
When Song Ji-Hye looked at Yu-min's furious appearance, she internally agreed that the incident was related to Jennie. She also grew very angry with her. However, unlike her daughter, she was actually afraid of her.
Yu-min's episode seemed to be a warning for her. She could not help but worry that her own deeds would be discovered as well. She was worried that...
It looked like whatever Song Ji-Hye had in her mind was about to come to life. While the mother-daughter pair was talking, a loud siren abruptly came from outside.
Song Ji-Hye and Yu-min's entire bodies shuddered in unison. They widened their eyes in terror and locked gazes with each other.
Before they could speak anything further, the servant staggered his way from outside, dashed over to the two and shouted, "Madam, Young Lady, it's the police! There is a group of police officers out there. They said they are looking for you."
"Looking for me?" Song Ji-Hye's face turned white. As she was about to ask the servant some further questions, a group of police officers had already rushed inside the villa entrance and surrounded the living hall.
Yu-min had never experienced things like this before. Her expression slightly changed, and she quickly hid behind Song Ji-Hye in a flash. She looked at the police officers warily.
"Officers, what you guys are doing here?" Song Ji-Hye reached out to block Yu-min behind her. She tried her best to keep her cool on the surface.
"Are you the madam of the Kim family?" The police officer who took the lead sized Song Ji-Hye up and asked in a low voice.
Song Ji-Hye nodded her head, "Are you guys looking for me?"
"That's right. We received a report from someone stating that you were involved in a car chase that happened in the bay area not long ago. You are suspected of making an attempt on someone's life. After an investigation is carried out, we have verified the source. We have tangible evidence and witness with us. Now, please come with us."
Upon hearing the police officer's words, Song Ji-Hye and Yu-min felt like they had been struck by lightning on the spot.
The only difference was that Song Ji-Hye was panicked and at a loss because her deed had been discovered, while Yu-min was shocked, and found it hard to believe.
"My mother made an attempt on someone's life? police officer, is there a mistake? How could my mother possibly do that?"
The police officer turned his head around and glared at Yu-min. He said faintly, "There is no mistake. We have witnesses and evidence. The evidence gathered is more than sufficient. Madam Song Ji-Hye had hired several outlaws and made an attempt on Ms. Jennie."
"What?! That wench?!... My mother?" Yu-min sucked in a cold deep breath. She turned her head around and looked at Song Ji-Hye incredulously. She shouted, "Mother, Mother, you didn't do it, right? Tell them! Tell them you didn't do it! Explain to them! They must have made a mistake!"
"Yu-min, I..." Song Ji-Hye did not know how to explain to her. Just then, the police officer became impatient. He interrupted the mother-daughter pair and said in a low voice," Madam Solar, please follow us back first. Take her."
"What are you guys doing?! What are you doing?! Don't pull my mother away from me! Mother..." When Yu-min saw the police officers surrounding them, she was agitated and wanted to block them. However, she was easily restrained. She could only watch wide-eyed as Song Ji-Hye was arrested by a group of police officers. She did not have a chance to speak a few words to her.
The moment Song Ji-Hye was taken away, the police officer immediately let go of Yu-min and followed them.
Yu-min sat on the floor in a daze. Tear marks were all over her face. She did not recover her senses even after a long while. A voice was buzzing inside her mind, telling her that her mother was arrested by the police officers because she had truly made an attempt on Jennie.
How could her mother possibly hire outlaws to make an attempt on her life?! How could that be possible?!
Speaking of which, Yu-min subconsciously recalled hearing the commotion inside Song Ji-Hye's room that night after Jennie met with the accident.
By the time she rushed over to her room, a certain one had looked panicked, which was different from her usual self. She saw the shattered flower pot as well as the shattered pieces of the... mobile phone inside the room.
At that time, Song Ji-Hye had told her that she had gotten a shock when she suddenly saw a mouse inside the room. So, she had flung the mobile phone placed by the side of her pillow at it and accidentally broke the vase. That was why she had heard a ruckus inside the room...
