I mean it seemed to be working out until he got captured. I mean he seemed like a happy with her, as she did with him.

They had lots of eggs together, so they must have been happy with each other (Ignore that dirty joke)

Coral seemed devastated when she found out Gill died, so I assume it was because she actually cared about him.
