I looked around frantically.

Where the fuck is he?

The floorboards creaked as I stepped cautions around his room. There was no sign of him except the empty bird cage lying sideways on the floor.

Suddenly I heard Bella crooning from underneath my feet. I got down on my knees, scavenging every inch of the floor with my fingers till I hit a trapdoor.

It fell open with a rusted squeak and I made my way down the steps into a dimly lit basement.

The walls were dusted with cobwebs and it looked as if it were abandoned for decades.

I heard Bella croon again. He had to be here.

"Min-ah? Where are you?"

A head slowly came into view with his familiar tousled hair. Panic struck me as I saw his eyes were red and swollen, the notorious smirk replaced with a pained frown.

"Min-ah! Oh my god I was so scared. You need to leave right now the poli-"

"She's dying y/n. My Bella..." He broke down into tears. I rushed to his side and saw Bella lying weakly as he caressed her feathers.

"Oh shit we need to take her to a hospital!" I gasped

Min-Hyuk shook his head as he replied, "She wants to be with me. I don't want her final moments in a hospital. I'll do as she says."

He whimpered like a little kid and buried his head in my shoulder. As I held him I couldn't help but feel my heart break. He had never seemed so vulnerable and lost.

I held him as he sobbed, gripping on to me as if he was afraid of losing one more person he cared about. I softly rubbed his back and kept on whispering "It'll be okay, it's gonna be okay."

Police sirens pierced through the hardwood and I snapped out of my thoughts.

They were here.

"Min-ah please listen to me. You need to run the police are here."

He looked up slowly, still crouching near Bella.

"And why should I run. I did nothing wrong."

"You don't understand they claim you've been robbing, threatening and killing people and I was so scared I-"

"But I. Did. Nothing. Wrong. I have been framed. Why should I hide when I'm not guilty?" He cut me off.

"They won't believe you!" I yelled, as I could hear them getting closer and closer.

There was a moment of silence as he stood up, walked towards me and looked me in the eyes. They were pooling with tears and I could feel his pain when he asked, "But you believe me right? You know me, I would never do something like that. Don't tell me... you believe them?"

I opened my mouth to answer something I wasn't even sure of. The trapdoor opened with a loud slam and flashlights were beaming at us.

"Come out right now, Ryu Min-Hyuk. We know you're here and there is no way out." Someone from above yelled.

My blood ran cold. They found him. I looked at Min-Hyuk expecting him to be afraid or startled, but he just looked calm and defeated.

The both of us made our way up through the trapdoor and were greeted with a dozen police officers shining flashlights into our eyes.

Min-Hyuk walked on to the stage with a smile on his face as if he was going to perform to an audience. His cape was billowing behind him and his hat a little crooked.

He bowed before them. They did not seem amused and stated his offences.

"Ryu Min-Hyuk. You are under arrest for attempted assault, murder, vandalism and taken to the station for further questioning. Do not try to resist or run, we have the area surrounded."

Min-Hyuk just laughed and held his hands up in surrender. I was horrified. He was giving himself up to the cops? I looked at him and he gave me a reassuring smile, as if saying everything is okay.

No. I couldn't let him get framed. I believed him.

I pushed past the police as the yelled at me to get down and stood next to Min-Hyuk. Locating a big white sheet near my foot, I took a deep breath and looked at the magician. The real magician.

"Min-ah..."

"Hm?" He responded, smiling at the nickname he's found so endearing.

"Do you... believe in magic?"

He turned to face me and placed his hat carefully on my head.

He smiled wide, and held my hand so tightly it was almost like a last goodbye. I took the sheet swiftly and covered him entirely with it.

"Annarasumanara" I whispered.

It crumpled down to the floor slowly, Min-Hyuk disappearing from sight.

As the police went into a frenzy, searching the whole premise for him while I sunk to my knees, grabbing onto to the sheet and held it close to me.

A hot tear slid down my cheek and stained the sheet with a splotch.

Min-Hyuk.... Was gone.
