Number 1: Lied to My Dad

I remember it like it was yesterday. I was out on my balcony looking out at the beach when my dad came out and sat across from me with a concerned look on his face.

"Dad? What's wrong?" I asked.

My dad just bowed his head and licked his lips.

"Dad? Is everything okay?" I asked, worry laced in my voice.

"Honey, your mother and I are getting a divorce" He began.

"Where is she?" I asked.

"She's already left. She didn't want to deal with saying goodbye to you two" he said, bowing his head once again.

My eyes began to well up with tears. I can't believe my mom just left me like that. Like I don't even matter.

"I have more bad news though" he said after a long pause.

"Go on" I said.

"I have a job offer out in Vancouver-" he began.

"VANCOUVER?! LIKE CANADA?!" I shouted.

"Yes"

"Dad, I can't move out there, it's my last year, I want to finish high school here, there's no way I'm moving out there!" I panicked.

"Honey you have no choice, we leave on Monday" he said.

"Well what if I were to stay with Nicole and her mom?"

"No, honey I'm not comfortable with that. Her mother's never home. She's out with a new guy every night, and she's known for leaving out of the blue for little acting jobs" my dad said.

"But dad, things are different, she doesn't do that any more! Please! Please! Please let me!" I begged.

"I will try to contact her. Get me her email and I will consider it" he sighed.

Right away I texted Nicole about this opportunity, and almost instantly she answered.

"OMG NO WAY!!! But... my mom won't be home for a while. She got a role in some small movie, she left today and probably wont be back for a few months" she answered.

":( is there anything we can do? I don't wanna move to Vancouver :(" I answered.

"Use my fake email for my mom, it's the one I use for the school so that when I skip I can hear about it, not her" she said.

"OMG that's genius! What is it?"
