Falling for a Champion (Leon x Reader)

Chapter 1

Y/N and her twin brother, Victor, have lived in the Galar region their entire life. The two were born in a big city called Wyndon, and lived there til they were about five years old.

The twins parents met when they were young, and quickly fell in love. Their dad worked at the battle tower in the city, while their mom helped out different professors all across the region. Their parents never imagined leaving the city, that is until their mother got pregnant.

The idea of letting her kids grow up in the city she loved was more than she could have ever wanted, and their father disagreed at first, but gave in once their mother flashed her big hazel eyes at him, which always helped her get her way.

Despite getting pregnant at a young age, with twins nonetheless, the two were happy, and couldn't wait for their family to grow. That is, until one day, their father got sick.

Young Y/N and Victor had just got home from school, and were confused as to why their mother could not stop crying. How would she be able to tell her two children that she would soon became a widow?

The illness started off slow, but then came all at once. Within the year, their father was gone. Navigating endless doctor's appointments while having two young children was a struggle for their mother, and she was afraid she wouldn't be able to do it.

After the day that their father passed, their mother was never the same. For once in her life, she didn't want to live in a big city. So, she decided to pack up all of their belongings, and move to the small city of Postwick.

The next town over, Wedgehurst, was home to a Professor named Magnolia. She was best friends with the twins' grandmother when they were younger, and always looked at their mother like she was her own, so she offered her help.

Once word of their fathers death got around, Magnolia went to the funeral to show her support for the family, and to offer her assistance to them. She encouraged them to move out of the big city and into the small town next to her. She also helped their mother get a new job at her lab, which she gladly took.

Y/N and Victor were five years old at the time, so the move wasn't too much of an adjustment for them. They moved out of their up town apartment, into a small three bedroom house with hills around that traveled for miles.

Their mother had to quickly adjust to their new life, as she had no choice but to put on a brave face for her children. She took on gardening as a hobby to help get her mind off things, and it helped make the time pass by. The house soon had vines growing around it and flowers all over the front yard. It was a nice, quiet town and a good place to raise a family.

Growing up, the twins had been inseparable. They did everything together. Wether it was run around the yard, watch pokémon matches on the tv, or play with their mothers Budew and Munchlax, they were the best of friends.

That is, until one day about one year after their move, they met Hop. He lived in the big two story house down the hill, and they had seen him a few times before, but never spoke.

On a cold winter afternoon, Y/N and Victor were playing around in the snow, when a small Wooloo ran up to them. They searched for its owner, and saw a young Hop running towards them after his partner. He quickly apologized, then asked if he could play with the two and they gladly agreed.

The three became friends almost instantly, and started to do everything together. Y/N, of course, would tend to be left out more and more, as Victor and Hop had a bit more in common. Nonetheless, Victor loved his sister, and always made a point to include her.

A couple months after they met Hop, they went over to his house to play, and that's when they met Leon. He was Hops older brother, by three years to be precise.

As the kids were in the living room playing with Wooloo, Leon walked in after his school day ended, and locked eyes with Y/N. She immediately fell head over heels for him, and always tried to make a point for the three to hang out at Hops house, just for a chance to see Leon again.

He was her first crush and first love, despite him never feeling the same way. Leon was always nice to her, but never too much. She was 'Hops little friend', and he always looked at her as a little sister.

Y/N herself was an extremely shy, quiet girl, and hardly ever spoke to Leon. Despite being a child, she knew she liked him. Every time he was around, she would get Butterfree in her stomach, and Victor and Hop would always pick on her for blushing anytime he came in the room. He didn't think much of it, because she was so much younger than him, so he brushed it off.

Then came the day when Leon decided he would leave town to pursue the Galar gym challenge. At just ten years old with his new partner, Charmander, by his side, anything was possible.

The day before he left, his family invited over their neighbors for a barbecue to send him off. The twins and their mother went over to the two story house to see the family outside, in front of the personally made battle field, sitting on a table watching Leon show off his partner as their father grilled.

It was a beautiful sunny day, and the families enjoyed every bit of it together. Y/N sat with her mother while the boys played, and tried not to watch Leon too much. She thought he was crazy for wanting to leave home at such a young age, and never thought she could do anything like that herself.

As the night ended, they said goodbye to each other, and made their way back home. The twins quickly fell asleep after their long day in the sun, and wanted to get enough rest to wake up early to see Leon off.

The next morning, their mother woke them up with her cooking, and they walked out in the living room to the smell of pancakes and eggs served on the kitchen table.

"Leon is going to be leaving soon." she told them, after they finished eating. "You two should head over if you would like to say goodbye."

"Come Y/N! I don't wanna miss Leon!" Victor exclaimed, as he grabbed her hand and pulled her out of the door.

As they ran up to the house at the end of the hill, the family was outside while Leon was filling up the rest of his bag with necessary items from his mother. Then, a young girl around Leon's age with orange hair in a ponytail walked up.

Her name was Sonia. She was professor Magnolia's granddaughter, and she was accompanying Leon on his journey. She decided she wanted to take on the gym challenge herself, and didn't want to travel alone.

As Leon grabbed the rest of his things, he hugged his family goodbye, and rubbed Y/N and Victors heads as he left. He and Sonia made their way to the train station to meet up with one of Leon's friends named Raihan, and the rest was history.

Y/N felt tears beginning to form in her eyes, and quickly ran home to hide her emotions from Victor and Hop, as she knew she would never hear the end of it if they saw they. The boys continued to play, and after that day, it was as if something had switched within them.

She didn't know if or when she would see Leon again. That is until about three years later, the two crossed paths at one of the most unexpected places she could've imagined.
