"But...But I love you...I don't want us to end." Rebecca let out a small sob as she held her hand to her aching heart.
"I'm really sorry. I can't anymore. Your jealousy has me at my limits, but don't worry you don't have to return anything I got you." Samuel said in a semi loud and strained tone as he avoided her eyes from the other side of his screen. Rebecca felt her bottom lip start to quiver as more hot tears ran down her cheeks along with some of her mascara and eyeliner.  Her hand softly shaking as she thought about hanging up the FaceTime call but she wanted to resolve this, hoping to keep her relationship alive even though she could tell Sam was shutting down.  "I had only gotten jealous because you kept telling me how so many people said they wanted to sleep with you! You would have gotten jealous too." Her voice rose as her sadness and heartache was replaced by anger, "You've put me through so much mental torture and I thought about leaving you a couple times but I stayed because I love you, but the moment it gets hard for you, you up and quit on our entire relationship?!"  She had tossed her hand that was on her heart up in anger and showing the rainbow quartz engagement ring on her finger, "you just proposed to me a week ago!"

All of her emotions started to drain from her as she felt the soft, cold embrace of numb settling on parts of her brain.  "I...I guess this is goodbye then...I l-love you..." Her thumb was shakily moving to the end call button before she had one last nail hammered into the coffin of her heartbreak.  "I love you too." Then a click as he hung up. He...loved her? If he loved her then why did he give up on them so easily, when she tried so hard to fight for them. Just days ago they were shopping for a birthday present for her mother and they went to lunch, had a few laughs, flirted and discussed their weekend getaway at a nice hotel.

A hot, bubbling rage filled scream climbed up her throat as she tossed her phone against her bedroom wall, shattering her phone. Her knees began to wobble and she plopped onto the edge of her bed, burying her face in her hands as she started to loudly sob.

Before long Rebecca had found herself curled up under the purple comforter with black bats, dressed in a pair of black sweat pants and a navy blue high school graduation hoodie that's 3 sizes too big. Her face was red and puffy, slick with tears as she scrolled through all the photos her and Sam had taken and deleting them off her phone while occasionally shoveling a few crinkle sweet potato chips into her mouth followed by a big gulp of orange soda.

A soft knock was heard from her closed bedroom door before a big, curly mess of blonde hair, a pair of sparkling blue eyes and a sympathetic pink lip glossed smile pops in. "Hey there, sugar bear. I made some delicious barbecued chicken thighs with Parmesan asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes for ya. Do you wanna come join me in the living room for a movie while we eat or do you want to eat in here?" At first Helga was met with a soft groan before Rebecca sat up, her black hair loosely falling out of her ponytail and also strands sticking to her left tear soaked cheek.
"Can I get my food in here please? I'm not feeling very social. I want to be alone for a little bit," Rebecca said softly, wiping her eyes with the long sleeves of her hoodie before bringing her knees up to her chest to hug.

Helga bobbed her head in an OK before dipping out of her room toward the kitchen and coming back with a plate full of steaming food. Usually the heavenly smell of the food would make Rebecca kick her legs and giggle in excitement but today, she didn't have an appetite at all yet she knew Helga would give a nudge for her to eat since it is so important to keep up your health and strength.

Helga set the plate on Rebecca's night stand and sat on the edge of the bed, placing her hand on Rebecca's. "I know you're hurting sweetheart. But I know you're going to get through this, he was a walking red flag. Him and his girl best friend both seemed to have a few screws loose." That comment made Rebecca let out a weak laugh. Samuel was known for being stupid and getting into situations that mainly caused concussions or I injuring himself while also pulled her through situations that made her insanely uncomfortable.

Helga patted Rebecca's hand with a soft but reassuring smile. "You're too beautiful to be crying over some chump. There's a big masquerade ball fundraiser thing I have to go to next week for my work. How about you come with? Maybe you'll find a boy or gal to have fun with. And no, you can't cling to Hunter and I like you usually do. I'm pushing the baby bird out of her nest to let her fly." Rebecca was going to open her mouth to protest but thought better of it. She was in much of a mood to hear a lecture from Helga about her being way to clingy to Helga and Hunter, Helga's younger brother.
Rebecca gave a reluctant nod.
