A bit more of a sensitive MC because they were wayy too upbeat all the time for my liking

Reader is female and not the MC! For ease of writing the MC's name is Maeve.

Being friends with the two Slytherin boys wasn't always easy and the past year had proven it. When the whirlwind that was the new fifth year joined they had helped Sebastian down a dark path, whether intentionally or not. You couldn't decide whether or not you would consider them a friend, because while they were funny and kind, seeing Sebastian start to spiral was hard, made even harder by the effect it had on Ominis. You knew it wasn't their fault deep down they were probably just as swept up in Sebastian's plans as Ominis and yourself were, which is why when Maeve came running through your house's common room you followed hurriedly.

Gently knocking on Maeve's dorm door, you hoped nothing too awful had happened. Last you knew, she and Sebastian had headed out together somewhere they wouldn't tell. Behind the door only sniffles and a quiet 'come in' could be heard.

Slipping through the doorway, you closed the door behind you and approached gently.

"Are you OK?" You questioned. She took a short pause, wiping her face on her sleeve as you sat on the end of her bed.

"Yes... It's hard to say but I think you deserve to know. Sebastian and I met up with Ominis shortly after we saw you this morning." She paused again and you passed her a tissue from your robe. She gratefully took it and blew her nose before continuing. She tells you all about how she managed to convince Ominis to tell them where Salazar Slytherins Scriptorium was, the group's struggles with puzzles and Ominis' aunt being stuck in the same trap that had pushed them into a corner that day. When describing how Ominis had freaked out at even the thought of the Crucio curse you got worried but wanted to stick around for the rest of the story so you would be informed.

When it was clear Ominis had no intention of using the curse, Sebastian had given Maeve three options, learn the curse and use it on him, learn it and have it used on her or not learn it and have it used on her. You were incredulous that Sebastian knew how to use an unforgivable curse but moved past it as Maeve started to look a bit more upset again, laying a comforting hand on her arm. Maeve didn't say if she learned the curse or not but had told Sebastian she wouldn't use it on him and thus had suffered. Knowing that you had to mean the curse you were furious that Sebastian didn't even hesitate, especially considering you were 90% sure Maeve had feelings for him.

"Anyway," She sniffs"I got out of there as quickly as I could I didn't want him to see me cry. Last I saw Ominis and Sebastian were yelling at each other in the Undercroft, maybe you can see if you can mediate? I can't face them yet..." She looked solemn. You squeezed her arm reassuringly.

"You don't have to see them until you're ready, I'll go see if they're still there. Do you want me to bring something back with me?" She shakes her head an appreciative smile on her face before she lies down and turns over.

The jog to the Undercroft was swift you were concerned for Ominis, this surely upset him a lot and you had a select word or two for Sebastian when you saw him. All you could think about was how you wished you were close enough to hold Ominis and tell him it would all be OK. The last thing you expected when you entered the Undercroft was Ominis alone, furiously throwing anything he could get his hands on. He very quickly ran out of items to throw and he whirled in your direction a snarl on his face when he heard the gate open. His hair was in disarray, strands flopping onto his face while he was breathing heavily.

"Hey, it's me." You said quickly assuming he thought it was Sebastian. His face instantly softened and he looked a lot more like you thought he would, devastated, exhausted and so, SO upset. You almost wished he would look angry again.
