Holy shit. I can't comprehend anything.
It's been four days since Jayden gave his presentation during art class. I haven't stopped thinking about his presentation since then. I can't stop thinking about it. Jayden had the courage to stand in front of a classroom full of people and say all these nice things about me. Even after the horrible way I've treated him.
I had the courage to tell him about the day Devyn died.
Maybe I could have more courage in the future to tell him how I feel.
I was laying on my bed, trying to get through my homework for the week. Honestly, I've been slacking off since the new year started. My mind's been occupied, and I haven't taken my education seriously.
A knock on my bedroom door had me confused. Mom and Nonna don't knock on the door. I could be having sexy time with someone, and mom would walk right in to put the laundry away. She wouldn't even bat an eyelash at me.
I jumped up to open the door, and my lovely Seth Carter was standing on the other side.
"Hey, Princess Di," Seth said, crossing the threshold into my room.
It's strange having Seth here. He's pulled back the most since I shunned the entire town. As Jayden's best friend, I understand why he'd pull away from me. It breaks my heart, but I can't help but understand. I don't blame him, and I hope he doesn't blame me. "What are you doing here?"
"Giving you the space to think and not cloud your judgment isn't working out well. For any of us. So, I'm officially not leaving you alone until we talk."
"Talk about what?"
Seth dropped down onto one of the bean bag chairs in my room. The sound of the fabric squeaked as he sat down. "Anything that comes to mind."
"You came to my house, so I'm assuming you have a topic in mind," I narrowed my eyes at him from my bed. I tossed all my papers and textbooks to the side.
Seth has been the person giving me the most space out of all my friends. Truly, I've spoken to Jayden — even though I was avoiding him — more than I've spoken to Seth. The only time I saw him was at the hospital and at that house party Emi dragged me to.
He took my silence in stride, and doesn't seem mad at me. If I were Seth, I'd be pissed at myself for ignoring him for so long. He's my friend as much as Jayden and Emi are my friends.
Seth nodded before saying, "Jayden didn't tell me anything about the night that changed everything for you guys. I saw the two of you kissing on the couch through the window, but since neither of you brought it up, I didn't bring it up either."
