Jamie’s P.O.V

‘TESS give it back’ I yelled as she ran off with my bag pack.
‘Got to catch me first’ she sprinted off towards the lake, I knew I would be able to catch her but I kinda wanted her to give it back. I slowed my run to a jog.
‘Give up Jamie’ Tess taunted from 100 yards ahead where she had stopped and turned to see where I was. She had a winning smile on her face.
The sight brought me up short, Tessie was so beautiful but she didn’t realise. Those weird violet eyes and her bouncing brown almost black waves of thick soft hair.
No-one my father, the king, had ever introduced me to held a candle to her. Therese had been my friend for 10 years now and I knew everything about her.
The cute way she ran her hands threw her hair when she was nervous, the set of her mouth when she was annoyed, I knew the way her mind worked and the way she moved.
‘NEVER’ I quickly sprinted the distance and caught her off guard grabbing the bag pack from her hands, but she lost her balanced and I tumbled to the ground on top of Tessie. T
essie’s tinkling laughter filled the air I just stared into her glowing eyes. Her laughter stopped and I saw immediately that she was uncomfortable.
I quickly scrabbled to my feet, turning an embarrassing bright red. After a few minutes of awkward silence not meeting each other’s eyes Tessie suggested we went for a swim so we did. We bombed and dived into the cold icy water.
A few hours later we were sunbathing on our towels in a comfortable silence when Tessie asked me ‘Jamie, what the date today?’ we were on our summer breaks at the moment and sometimes I had no idea what day it was but today I knew luckily.
‘September the 4th’ I muttered
‘What! Are you sure? What time is it?’ Tessie almost screamed jumping up grabbing all of her stuff.
‘Urr yer I am sure and it 2 o’clock’ I muttered wondering why Tessie was getting so frantic, I raked my mind for the possible reason for this and came up blank.
‘I have to leave to go to boarding school in 15 minutes’ she screeched
‘Oh God, come on we have to go now you can’t be late’ We ran up to her house and she quickly got ready. Then I walked her to the gates where everyone was waiting to see her off.
‘So Therese, are you ready to leave?’ The queen asked.
‘Yes your majesty’ Tessie answered politely.
‘Well then the best of luck’ My father said with a small smile on his face.
‘Thank you your majesties’
‘Bye Tessie’ I said to her, my father giving me a disapproving look.
‘Goodbye Prince James’ Tessie whispered with that she jumped into the car and her father drove away. My parents slowly moved away but I stayed and watched the car go over the horizon.
Tessie was gone and I felt a ripping inside my chest like she had taken my heart away with her.
It was then that I realised that I had fallen in love with Therese Julia Harrington and now she was gone.
