"Can you introduce yourself to the class please?" the first grade teacher asked. "Okay. Hello my name is Nikki, I'm 6 years old. I'm sorry for entering the school in the middle of term, it took longer than expected, to move into our house." Nikki Kahri told her classmates, in a manor of speech deserving of a much older child. Nikki then went to the back of the classroom, to the table in the corner, not the one with all the other kids, but the one with a little boy, whom was sitting all by his lonesome. As Nikki sat down she asked in a kind and small voice "hello what's your name?" the little boy spoke, very faintly, but from what she could hear his voice was soft and gentle, the voice of an angel. "You are at the wrong table miss, you should be with the others." "No, I'm sitting where I should be." Nikki responded. "So you want to sit with me?" "Yes." "Why?" the boy asked in a very questioning tone, as if no one was ever kind to him. "Because I think we are the same." "And how do you figure that?" he asks in the same questioning tone. "How do you figure that you always need to be alone?" Nikki asks trying to mimick his tone. "I don't figure it, I just know... I know that I don't fit in." The boy replies. "Well it's the same for me as well, I don't fit in because I can do things that others can't." Nikki tries to explain. "Things like what?" intrest creeping its way into the boy's voice. "Things, thats all, just things." she says in a manor sujesting not to press anymore on the topic. "Do you have any siblings?" the boy asks trying to make small talk. "I used to, but he was K.I.A two months ago." "What does K.I.A stand for?" the boy asks confussed. "Oh, thats right, you probably dont know. K.I.A means killed in action. He was killed on his third tour to Afganistan." Nikki says as her voice starts to crack. Before she even finnishes explaining what K.I.A means, just after the first crack gets out of her voice, she finds herself trapped in a hug. The boy had leaped into a hug trying to cheer he up so she wouldn't cry. "Derek. My name is Derek."
