Bucky Barnes was standing outside the door to his apartment, leaning against it with his arms crossed as he tried to think what to do next. It had been a long time since he'd gone out on a date, and he really needed to go see what Steve thought of it.
The idea of asking someone out in public didn't appeal much at all, but he was getting antsy waiting for his friend to arrive. He'd texted Steve a few times over the course of the day, asking if he could come by for dinner, and then when it had started getting close to 6 o'clock, he just couldn't wait anymore.
Now that Bucky thought about it, maybe he should have called ahead so Steve could get ready earlier instead of sending him an SOS text from his phone. But Bucky hadn't really gotten that far down the planning process before he'd gotten distracted. So now here he was, waiting on his best friend who wasn't even here yet and still looked like he might be late.
That made Bucky feel worse somehow, and so he decided that he really should leave. He just couldn't stay here any longer, and he wasn't feeling too confident that he wouldn't run into Steve again. If he did, would they talk, or would they avoid each other? Maybe they were both avoiding it, and Bucky just missed the signs. He didn't know how that worked, but he figured he should try anyway. After all, Steve seemed to be the most observant person Bucky knew, which was probably why he felt so comfortable around him. If there was something wrong with Bucky, surely Steve would notice. Right? Bucky hoped so because it was bothering him.
Once Bucky met up with Steve, he told him about Brianna Lang, who is Scott Lang's sister. Steve turned silent. "You ok there Steve you gone quiet?" He had asked. "Yeah, I'm fine. I'm just happy to see that you're ready to settle down." Steve laughed. "Oh shush." Bucky replied. "Anyways, when's the date and where are you taking her?" Steve questioned.
Bucky looked at with side eyes. "I have no fucking idea." He answered back. Steve chuckled. " There is a fancy restaurant called Valentina's Ristorante. Maybe you can take her there you just have to wear something fancy." Steve said, trying not to smile.
"You're enjoying this shit ain't you." Steve couldn't help be laugh. "Yeah, I am." He replied, still laughing. "Asshole." Bucky said firmly,"Dick." Steve said back. "Thanks. I know I am at times.""Moving on. Just don't hurt her, cuz if you do, you don't just have Scott to worry about she's like a sister to me too." Steve had pointed out. "I'm not going to hurt her. Calm yourself Steve.
Bucky took his phone out of his pocket and texted Brianna
Dear Brianna,
I hope you're having a good day. I just wanted to let you know that I really like you. I think you're super cool and funny, and I love spending time with you.I don't really know how to say this. But I was wondering if maybe you would want to go on a date with me.
If you don't feel the same way, that's okay too.
Thanks for being such a great friend and for always making me laugh. I hope we can hang out soon.
