Seokjin sat in the passenger seat of a police car, his finger tapping on the door handle nervously. He wasn’t always nervous on missions, but this one was different. He was with a whole troop of police officers as they guarded an armored vehicle holding a dangerous criminal in it. However, he wasn’t the one that made Seokjin nervous about being on this mission with the officers.
Before heading out, he had received word from his informant that The League would be trying to break this criminal out. The League is one of the most vicious villain groups that have been wreaking havoc around Seoul for some time now and rumor has it that they plan on overthrowing the government. All of the heroes and police officers have been trying to do all they could to stop The League to no avail. They were too dangerous and too skilled.
Seokjin pulled open the folder on his lap that contained all the documents they had about The League. It was very small and only contained a few papers of information and whatever photos they could get their hands on of each known member. He carefully read over the names and looked at the photos to make sure he knew each of them: Jeon Jungkook, the missing son of a murdered family, Jung Hoseok, a runaway and a high school dropout from Gwangju, Min Yoongi, the son of the police chief who ran away and allegedly kidnapped his own mother from home, and Park Jimin, whose records show he’s a dead man that was murdered at the age of twenty. Seokjin clicked his tongue in annoyance shuffling through the papers.
All of The League members' records were incomplete and the photos were almost impossible to make out their faces as they came from screenshots of security footage and old photos from their youth. The only ‘good’ and recent photos they had of each member were from Jimin’s college I.D, Hoseok’s high school photos, Jungkook from when he was seven years old, and Yoongi’s middle school photos from the archives at Seoul Academy of Heroes, or SAOH for short.
‘You’d think with the technology these days, there’d be better photos and more information,’ Seokjin thought. He squinted at the blurry photo of Jungkook next to a cloaked figure. ‘Another member of the League, maybe?’
There wasn’t much else in the folder and the only paper with the most useful information in the whole file was a single paper containing details about The League’s powers with the words WARNING at the top in big bold, red letters. Under it was a note that said: ‘If you ever encounter these individuals out in the field, immediately call for backup and proceed with caution. This paper was written from eyewitness accounts and security footage and might not be all that they can do.’
Seokjin made sure to read over the list multiple times to remember should he ever have to fight them: Jungkook, aerokinesis; Can bend the air around him and others. Hoseok, transformation, and compulsion; Able to change his form to a red-skinned, horned, demonic creature and is able to take control of others by uttering an enchantment. Yoongi, pyrokinesis; Bends blue fire that he can create from his body at will. Jimin, transformation; Able to change his form to something similar to a humanoid bat.
‘And if they get the prisoner out today like my informant said,’ thought Seokjin. Mentally, he wrote his own draft of the prisoner’s profile.
Kim Taehyung, poison; A single touch from him and you’re dead within thirty seconds. He had already killed five people with the power; his parents, his best friend, an officer at the court right in front of the judge, and, when he was still in elementary school, a teacher. This teacher was his first victim, and when asked about it, all he said was: “He deserved it.”
Seokjin had hoped his informant was wrong, knowing full well that if Taehyung does join The League, they’d be even more powerful. Much to his dismay, he spotted two figures on the highway in front of them. They stood at the same height until one transformed. He grew about five centimeters as giant blackish-purple, bat-like wings grew out of his back and a pointed tail slid out from under his shirt. The wings were just as tall as he grew to and their wingspan stretched to about seven meters long.
