[flashback chapter]

I sat down for my first class of the semester in Yongma Land. I was nervous and excited for a fresh start, fidgeting my thumbs over my softcover text book.

My seat mate was a lanky boy, with neat hair and round glasses. I looked better at him and realised he kinda looked like Harry Potter.

"Hm? What are you laughing at? Do I look that funny?" He asked nonchalantly and registered in my head that I let out a small laugh.

I shook my head, bowing. "Ah sorry about that I was just thinking you looked like... Harry Potter..."

He snapped his head towards me, mouth agape.

"Harry Potter? Seriously?"

I giggled, nodding in agreement
"Yeah, just a little bit." I said holding my index and thumb millimetres apart.

He chuckled and carried on with his work, furiously scribbling math equipment in his notebook.

The home room teacher came in and started the roll call. I zoned out, drowning out the unnecessary names.

"Na Il-Deong?"

"Here."

I jumped because the response came right beside my ear. The Harry Potter from Walmart was named Na Il-Deong.

"Y/n?"

"Oh uh Here!" I yelled enthusiastically and Il-Deong looked at me.

"Y/n? That's your name?" He asked.

"No I'm just under an alias for now. I'm actually a secret agent, shh." I said bringing a finger to my lips.

(time skip)

Na Il-Deong and I decided to study in the library for a few hours after school. It wasn't much conversing, just the occasional flip of the page and pen scratching again paper.

After we were done, I packed my stuff and skipped down the stairs. It was getting pretty dark, with dark blue clouds covering the horizon.

"Y/n?" Il-Deong called a few feet from behind.

"Yes?"

"It's dark outside do you want me to drop you home?" He offered.

I blushed at the thought of him and I in a car and immediately brushed the offer away.

"Ah thank you, but I think I'll walk. I actually have to run an errand before I get home." I lied.

He looked at me in concern and replied, "Well okay, but be safe. The roads are dangerous at night."

"Yes, I will. Thank you." I bowed and left.

Though it was dark and gloomy the streets felt oddly calm. It almost looked pretty. I brushed my hand against a painted wall as I walked, feeling the textures underneath my fingertips.

Suddenly the lights in the street went out and I was surrounded by pitch dark. Except faint moonlight, I could barely see anything.

I caught a silhouette of a person from the far end of the street and my heart started racing. I turned around and made a run for it, my shoes thumping against the ground.

I tripped on my shoelaces and fell hard on my knees.

"Fuck fuck fuck!" I yelled, looking around to see if the person was following me.

Suddenly a hand appeared in front of me and I yelped in surprise. Looking up, it was a man who looked in his twenties, wearing a hat and a cloak.

"Who- who are you?" I asked nervously.

"Do you...

...believe in magic?"
