Bittersweet.

     New York City Summer of 2016

I had just gotten off the phone with my boss Ana I was so done with her shit all I wanted to do was go get wasted so I stopped at the first bar I saw. I went in and sat at the bar I was a few drinks in when I noticed this girl across the bar smiling at me I smiled back and she started waving I waved back laughing.She then got up and came to sit on the stool next to mine she was noticeably drunk

"Hi!"

I wasn't planning on making friends tonight but I could use some cheering up

"Hey i'm Jessica what's your name?"

"It's Jackie!"

"You're very pretty Jackie are you here alone?"

I didn't realize till after I said it how creepy that sounded

"No my friends went to the restroom and I was bored so I wanted to talk to you"

"Oh look that's them!" she waved her hand at her friends and they came up to where we were

"This is my best friend Joselyn and my sister Vivi"

"Hi!" Joselyn smiled as she did a small wave

My face turned red when I saw her sister.

I smiled anyway

"Nice to meet you. Both."

Vivi looked shocked and confused to see me but she smiled as well

"Do you two know each other?" said Vivi

"No I just got bored when you guys left and she looked friendly so I came to talk with her. Why do you know her?" said Jackie looking confused

"No, I just don't think you should be talking to strangers let's go" Vivi said as she grabbed Jackie by the arm

"Nooo I wanna stay we just started talking don't be a party pooper!" Jackie whined

Joselyn laughed

"Oh vivi just let her stay she needs to have fun tonight come on let's leave them alone" Joselyn then took Vivi's hand and pulled her away
Vivi glared back at me as she got pulled away

Me and Jackie talked all night through out the night I kept making eye contact with Vivi and I wondered if I should just go home but I was having too much fun I just couldn't it was like if Jackie had me under hypnosis every time I made her laugh she'd almost always reach her arm to hold my upper arm and id get butterflies every. time. she smelled like vanilla and her skin was soft. She talked to me about her best friend Joselyn and how she just got dumped by her boyfriend a few days ago and how her life here in New York was while she talked I'd just look her deep in the eyes and admire how pretty she was and how delicate her features were.

Later that night Vivi came up to her and said how it was late and she needed to get home Jackie sighed and said "Hey I had so much fun tonight seriously, here take my number we need to hangout again"

Vivi gave me a rude glare but I ignored it and took her number not knowing if it was a good idea

"Bye Jessica!"

I smiled and waved goodbye.

I couldn't stop thinking of her even while I was trying to fall asleep. I told myself I needed to throw away her phone number and forget her she was so drunk all night she'll most likely forget me and everything we talking about plus it wasn't a good idea to befriend her now that I know who her sister is, it would over complicate my life and that was the last thing I needed.

The next morning I woke up and she was my first thought I got angry at myself because I said i'd forget her but I couldn't I looked at my bedside table and saw her number laying there I really shouldn't have but I picked up my phone and put her number in I didn't wanna call so I just sent a message letting her know who I was and waited for a reply. After a while of staring at my phone and regretting sending that message my phone showed that she read my text I stared waiting for a reply but didn't get one.

I put my phone down and told myself this was a sign that I needed to leave this girl alone but It's too late now I can't leave her now that i've found her she changed something in me i've never felt this way before I know it sounds crazy cause I just met her last night and we were both drunk but I felt it was right. I picked my phone back up and called my friend evelyn. I wasn't gonna let her slip away from me.
