Although it has been nearly two days since Michelle's demise, there remains an absence of any clue as to how this could have transpired. Initially, Dr. Martin had disclosed to me that her heart was found in a lacerated state, which led to her death. Certainly, this could not have been the deed of an ordinary individual. However, the matter of her skull being split open down to the chest truly gives one pause for thought.

It was half-past ten when I arrived home not long ago. As I was drying my hair with a towel, I felt an eerie sensation of being watched from behind. Turning around apprehensively, I found no one there-only the doll in the corner of the bed, which I greeted with a wry smile. It was a precious gift from my mother on my seventh birthday. Although she passed away many years ago, it must have been at least 19 years by now.

There was a man behind my mother's death but I never saw him again except that night; I was only seven years old at the time, and my memories are but a hazy blur, even her face has faded from my recollection, only vaguely familiar when I see photographs.

After drying my hair with the hairdryer, I planned to go downstairs for dinner with my dad. The doll was lying in the corner, at risk of falling, so I tossed it onto the sofa before leaving.

"Sweetheart, you seem so worried lately. Is everything alright? Or are you still upset about the death of your doctor friend, Michelle?" Dad asked with concern in his voice as I aimlessly stirred my food with a spoon.

"It's not exactly that, but still, Dad, I don't know how she suddenly died." Although I didn't divulge everything to him, fearing his worry might exacerbate his health, given the mysterious nature of her death.

"Look, every living being has a life and death. Yes, it hurts when someone dear passes away, but it's been almost two days. You need to forget all this and carry on with life as you have been," he advised soothingly, and I responded with a faint smile.

"The Kim family is really excited about your upcoming birthday, sweetheart."

"Yes, I've discussed it with Taehyung."

"You two have been acquainted for almost a month now. What do you make of him?"

"I won't lie, Dad, but Taehyung is quite impressive and mature. His ease at mingling with everyone really resonates with me."

"Do you like him?" Dad asked, looking at me intently, and I shyly lowered my head in response.

"Well, you could say that," I replied, scratching the back of my neck in embarrassment, and he came over to comfort me.
