Shelby had had a few partners in her lifetime. But there was one that she couldn't seem to get off of her mind.
Near the end of 8th grade, she met a cute boy named Gabe. They talked some in 8th grade, but they stopped after a while. When they went to high school, they got put in the same 1st-period class.
They became friends and eventually started dating. Shelby loved him more than anything and their relationship seemed to be great. But eventually, Gabe became distant and they broke up.
After that Shelby dated a few other people, but she never really had another relationship like her and Gabe's. Eventually, she just gave up on relationships.
When she turned 18 she moved into a little apartment by herself. She was doing okay on her own, but it was kind of lonely. She spent most of her free time just watching TV and playing games.
Shelby was bored one day and decided she would text Gabe to see how he was doing since they hadn't talked in a while. She text and asked how he was, then put her phone down and tried to distract herself so she wouldn't overthink it.
A little while later he texts her back. She nervously picked up her phone and opened the message. It read, "Im doing pretty good, how have you been?" She told him she was good and had just recently moved into her own place. Gabe said it was cool and she should show it to him. Jokingly she said he could come over if he wanted to see it. She said this as a joke but she really would like it if he came over.
To her surprise, he agreed to come over the following day. Shelby stared at the message in shock. Gabe actually wanted to come over, to her apartment? Tomorrow? That was the last thing she expected.
She spent the rest of the day cleaning up her apartment to get ready for her company. When she finished, she got out a cute outfit and went to bed.
The next morning she got up early and took a shower. She got out and went to her room to get ready. She then went around her apartment looking for anything that needed to be straightened up before Gabe arrived.
She nervously paced her apartment. After a while of anxiously waiting there was a knock at the door. She looked around one last time, then went to open the door. She took a deep breath to calm her nerves and opened the door.
And there stood Gabe. The boy Shelby had been in love with since high school. She stood there for a second, just staring at him.
"Hi," she said finally, trying not to make it too obvious how nervous she was.
"Hey," Gabe said with a smile.
Shelby moved to let him in. He walked in and looked around.
"This place looks nice," Gabe said, still looking around.
"Yeah, I tried to make it look cute, I still have some things I want to add."
"Well, I think it looks good."
"Thank you," Shelby smiled.
Gabe smiled back.
"Well I guess now I have to give you a tour," Shelby announced.
She showed Gabe around the kitchen, living room, and dining room. Showing him all her favorite things about her apartment. And Gabe listened, watching her as she got excited about the record player she had recently bought, showing him the shelves she put up with her vinyl on them.
He watched and smiled, noticing how cute she was when she was excited. He watched and noticed all the little details. He had missed her so much and now they have finally met again. And they're finally alone. They had always made jokes about what they would do if they got to be alone. If they had their own place. And they finally were, they finally did.
