Chris' POV:
"Are you serious?! How do you know we're in the clear?" She asked as I reassured her.
"Baby, the nigga is dead. Before I hung up the phone, I heard him collapse on the ground and the DEA busted in... that fuck nigga ain't bothering us no more."
She paced back and forth slowly in the living room.
"I'm just nervous Chris."
"Sweetheart, it's no reason for you to be nervous. I handled the shit like I said I would." I said confidently as she looked up at me.
"Ok Chris..."
"Next topic... so you and my mama cool now? Did I hear that correctly?" I asked pulling at my beard hair.
"Well that's what it seems like. She said she wanted to be in my life and she apologized for her behavior during our first meetup." She explained.
"I'm glad to hear that, but I wanna see the shit for myself." I said honestly.
"I understand..."
"Did you tell her about the baby?"
"Yea" She said as I furrowed my eyebrows and got annoyed.
"Why the fuck would you do that?"
"Excuse me? Who are you talking to like that?" She asked with an attitude.
I rephrased my question and said, "Why would you tell her about the baby?"
"Am I not about to have a child with her son?" She asked folding her arms.
"Yea but that don't mean I wanted her to know yet. Until she changes her actions, it ain't her damn business yet. I thought you would know some simple ass shit like that." I explained in a frustrated tone as she squinted her eyes at me.
"Like I said, I don't know who you think you're talking to like that, but it ain't me. Check yo' self. For the record, I didn't tell her that I was pregnant because it's not my place. But, I'm glad to know how you would've reacted." She said walking away.
Damn, here we go again. I really don't wanna argue... especially over no hypothetical shit.
She stopped in her tracks and looked at her phone. Then, she took a deep breath before answering.
"Hey ma..." She said as I tuned in.
Now that I think about it, this is one of the first times I've heard her talk to her mom.
"I'm fine how are you?" She asked as she sat down on the couch.
I followed her, and sat down in the space beside her.
"Oh, you are?" She asked as her eyes widened.
My eyes stayed on her as she looked over at me.
"Yea, that's fine... when are you coming?" She asked.
Oh shit.
"Tomorrow? Dang, I didn't know you were coming that soon. You didn't even give me a heads up." Jayde said scratching her arm nervously.
"Of course I'll be excited to see you... it's been a while." She said giving a half smile.
"Yea I still have my apartment... where are you staying?" She asked as I mouthed to her, "The hotel"
She mouthed, "For real?"
I shook my head yes quickly.
"Look ma, don't worry bout' it I have a place for you." She said looking at me.
