Leon S. Kennedy was a man on the hunt. He had been tracking down leads on the elusive Dr. Salvador, one of the key players in the Los Illuminados cult, for weeks. So far, he followed his trail to a small village in Spain. As he made his way through the dilapidated streets, fending off some attackers, he heard a panicked voice calling out from a nearby little hut. "Help! Somebody help me!"
Leon quickly ran towards the source of the noise, his handgun at the ready. He found a young man, no older than his mid-twenties, crouched beside a pile of rubble, desperately searching for something.
"What's going on?" Leon called out from a safe distance, his gun still trained on the surrounding area, ready for any attackers. The man looked up at Leon, his face contorted with slight fear. "It's my sister," he said. "She ran away towards the village when we got attacked by the infected."
Leon's interest was piqued. This could be the chance to get some information. "What's your name?" he asks.
The young man stood up, brushing off his clothes. "Laurent," he said. "Laurent Hill. I'm a doctor. My sister and I were both traveling through Spain when we got caught up in all this chaos."
"What do you know about the virus outbreak?" Leon asked, scanning the area for any signs of danger.
Laurent hesitated for a moment before answering. "I've been studying it for years," he said. "It's a highly contagious virus that affects the nervous system. It spreads through bodily fluids and can cause a range of symptoms, from fever and fatigue to severe neurological damage and death."
Leon nodded, impressed. This doctor clearly knew what he was talking about. "And the cultists? Do you know anything about them?"
Laurent sighed, looking down at the ground. "They're a religious sect that's been gaining power in this region for years," he said. "They believe the virus is a sign of the end times, and that they have a duty to save the chosen few and sacrifice the rest.
Leon's stomach turned. He knew that there were some truly twisted individuals in this world, but the members of Los Illuminados sounded like something out of a horror movie.
"I'll help you find your sister," Leon said, turning his sight to the village, Laurent following behind him, cautious of every step. "But we're going to have to be careful. The cultists are everywhere, and they won't hesitate to kill us both if they catch us."
Laurent nodded, his face set with determination. "I know," he said. "But I won't rest until I find her and put an end to this nightmare once and for all."
