The Dog (An Ateez Fanfic)

Prologue

Y/N was madly in love with Seonghwa. Seonghwa was madly in love with Y/N. Y/N was known to be the cold-blooded hitman-for-hire, called Baba Yaga. Seonghwa owned a small bakery and made cakes, cookies, and other sweets for a living. Y/N thought she didn't deserve Seonghwa after everything she'd done. Seonghwa thought she deserved the world, even with the bad things she'd done.

Y/N was found on the streets of Russia after she had been abandoned as a baby. She was taken in by a crime family known as HYB. HYB raised her and put her in a family, training her to be their assassin. As she grew older and older, she got better and better at what she was being trained to do. She was fine spending her time doing the tasks she was given by HYBE until she met Seonghwa.

Seonghwa, the lovable baker that ran Horanghwa Sweets. Y/N passed his shop often on the way to the HYB headquarters, but never actually stopped in. She had figured it was just one of the money laundering schemes that HYB had been running. However, when she asked one of her bosses, and they had let her know it actually wasn't associated with them, she thought she'd decide to go give it a visit.

That is when she met Seonghwa. Sweet, lovable Seonghwa. Seonghwa had seen her past by his shop quite often, but she'd never actually walked in. Yet that day she decided to. She had ordered an orange juice and a chocolate chip cookie. He remembered because he had always thought it was an odd combination, and also because she got it every time she went in.

This continued until one day Y/N had received a slip of paper with Seonghwa's number on it with her order. The pair ended up going on one date, and then another, and another, until eventually Y/N was wearing an engagement ring on her finger.

That is when Y/N realized she no longer could be apart of HYB. She wanted to live in a nice house with a white picket fence with her soon-to-be husband and their kids running in the yard. That's why she went to the head of HYB and asked to be free of her obligations. They agreed, and Y/N and Seonghwa started to plan their new life together.

They got married and at first things were going very well, until one day Seonghwa started getting sick. He was coughing a lot, but since it was spring time he just attributed it to normal allergies and ignored it. Y/N constantly pleaded with him to get it looked at, but he keep telling her it was just allergies. He kept saying it was just allergies until one day he coughed up blood. At that point Y/N made him go to the doctor.

One month before their 3rd wedding anniversary, Park Seonghwa was diagnosed with lung cancer that had spread through his body. One week after Y/N found out she was pregnant with his child. Y/N was constantly at his bedside, even when he got the news that all the treatments they were doing weren't working. It was official, Seonghwa was being put on hospice care and it hadn't been been two months since he got diagnosed. On March 15th, Seonghwa passed peacefully, with his beloved wife and his family at his side. On March 18th, Y/N lost the baby, the only thing that she had left from Seonghwa.

Then she received the puppy. The beautiful dog Seonghwa got her so she wouldn't be alone after his passing, and that is where our story starts.
