Wednesday pov
"Sir, can you press that speed pedal more?" "I'm running late," I sighed and laid my back on the seat.
"Extra tip then?"
"Okay fine, I throw another 10 bucks."
"Thanks, Miss. I'm speeding to the hospital now."
5 minutes later...
"Be safe now, miss. See you!" The taxi driver speeds away while blasting his song. I hate that he tries to make me talk about every single moment in the car.
Whatever I need to see Enid's doctor for now, hopefully they can do something about this. I glance at the plastic bag I brought with me and walk into the hospital's main entrance.
I could use some bread right now; I'm pretty hungry after all that drama.
"Doctor?" I found her at the cafeteria, eating a sandwich.
"Wednesday? "Come, join me," She shows me an empty seat in front of her.
"I'm not in a rush now; I've got like 20 minutes before I check my patients again." She really needs to chew all the food down before talking; I can't barely decipher what she's trying to say.
I took a seat in front of her and put the plastic bag on the table.
"Here you go, medicine bottles I found in Enid's dorm." I closed my eyes for a moment. How long has it been since I slept? I honestly can't even remember.
"Oh, so fast! Thank you, Wednesday, you're a life saver," she smiled at me, and I saw a relieved look on her face.
"You look so relieved?" "Is there something going on?" I questioned her.
"My leader has been asking me to handle your girlfriend's case quickly because, you know, nevermore students stuff," she said, smiling flatly at me while folding her sandwich wrappers into a small square.
"I can't quite catch what you're trying to say," I furrow my eyebrows.
"Don't worry, his story has been all over the place for years; you'll hear it anytime soon," she smiled at me again and got up from her seat.
"See you later?" I nodded and got up to visit Enid.
location: Enid's ward
I peek before entering to see if anyone's inside. Good, I prefer some solitude right now.
I sit on the chair beside Enid and lay my back on the chair.
Just as I was about to close my eyes, I heard soft grunts from Enid.
"Enid?" I lean forward.
"Ouchh my head, why is it so heavy? " she took a look around the room and finally landed her eyes on me, "Who are you?"
My eyes widened; did she have amnesia too? "I'm Wednesday, your friend," I said, furrowing my eyebrows at her.
"Do you remember thing?" he waved at Enid.
She stares at me for a moment and finally lets out a laugh, saying, "I'm joking Wednesday," still laughing.
"You scared me for a second." I let out a sigh.
"Oh, why so?" She sits up straight and stares at me.
"You spent the last five days here, Enid," I said. Her eyes widened after I said that.
"5 days! Damn," she said, looking at her hands. "There's a lot of tubes and wire."
"It's good that you woke up now," thought I raised my eyebrows and laid my back on the chair.
Enid's pov
5 days? that's so long, even so I felt like I had a normal sleep.
I barely remember what happened at the prom; I'm pretty sure that's where I passed out.
"Did you come here all the time?" I move my body around, and being asleep for five days already makes my body ache.
"Yeah," she answered while reading her books. I didn't expect her to always come here to be honest. She once said she doesn't like hospital smells.
I stayed silent and stared at her. I just noticed she was wearing the snoods I made for her. She looks cute wearing them.
"Why are you staring at me?" Wednesday, close her books and look at me back.
"The snoods, you wear them a lot these days."
"I try to appreciate people's gifts by using them a lot."
"But you smash the phone Tyler gave you."
"I hate him."
"Oh, you like me?"
"yeah"
I stare at Wednesday in shock.
"In a platonic way, or..." I fiddle with my fingers; why does my heart beat faster? God, stop this!
"Can I say both?" Her gaze softened. I want to combust right now. "How about you? Do you feel the same way towards me?" she asked.
Just as I was about to answer her, someone entered the ward.
Wednesday, stand up and shake the doctor's hand. "Ah, good to see that Miss Sinclair has already woken up," she smiles at me.
"How do you feel right now?" she asks as she walks towards me and stands beside me.
"I'm okay, but my body aches a bit," she nodded and took her stethoscope.
"I'm going to check your body condition first, okay?" I nodded, and she checked what I assume would be my heart rate. I don't know, honestly.
"Your heart beats fast; did you run just now?" I smiled flatly; it was all because of Wednesday's sudden confession.
I look at Wednesday, and she tries to hide her smile.
"Shut up," I mouthed.
She bent her knees and leaned into my ears.
"Can I take that as your answer?" she raised her eyebrows at me.
I rolled my eyes while smiling at her.
"Alright, we're all done now." The doctor smiled at me and said, "Meet the pharmacist at the counter for antibiotics, okay?" Wednesday nodded, then turned her head toward me shortly after she left.
"I want to hear it," she demanded while crossing her arms. I hate that grin.
"Hear what? me rap?" I'm trying so hard to change the topic and turned my face to the window to avoid eye contact with her.
"I feel like peeing, ahaha, let me go to the bathroom for a moment, okay?" Just as I stand up, she suddenly stands in front of me.
Lord, kill me now; I'm turning red way too much.
"Look, I just want to know—do you feel the same way as I did?" She reached out for my hands and held them gently while doing that rubbing with her thumb. I go nuts whenever she does that.
"I-um..I-" I knew my answer; I was going to say it, but I'm too nervous to say it. stutter.
She stayed silent while looking into my eyes. She never breaks eye contact, does she? Come to think of it, her face is so pretty, like, very pretty. Am I weird? Why haven't I noticed this? She's the prettiest in that damn academy, no doubt.
"Okay, I get it," she let go of my hands and smiled flatly, "it's okay, Enid, I understand," she turned her back on me and started to walk away.
I quickly stopped her by pulling her arm, and I think I accidentally kissed her. I did. Oh my goodness.
"I'm sorry I wasn't going to do–" She cupped my face and kissed me back, and we both made out for like 1 minute (that's long enough, pal) then we both broke the kiss apart and stared at each other.
"I think you're hot." Shit, why did I say that?
"Oh, I'm flattered, I guess." "I think you're pretty too, y'know," she says with a slight smile, then lets out a chuckle. "No stutter now?"
"Shut up," I said. I lightly smacked her arms and turned my back against her, I take a deep breath to process what happened just now.
"Sorry," she chuckles. She hugs me from behind. Is this the real Wednesday? Am I dreaming? It's so warm; I missed her hugs so much.
"This is nice," I let out a sigh, "it's too good to be true to be honest."
Wednesday turned me around to face her and cupped my face with her cold hands.
"Why so?" she asked me, then kissed my forehead.
"It's crazy that this whole time we did have a crush on each other but never said a word about it." I smiled.
She kissed my forehead again and answered, "Now it does come true, right?" "Let's just appreciate the moment we have with each other for now, okay?" She kissed my cheeks this time.
"Whoa, I never knew your love language was physical touch. Interesting." I let out a giggle; I thought her love language would be throwing knives at her significant other. Okay, that's weird, stop it, Enid.
"I think it's from mother or father," she said, as she slightly furrowed her eyebrows, then smiled at me.
What the hell, she's so cute when she smiles!
Just as I was about to kiss her again, the door opened.
"Tyler? "Why are you here?" It's that greasy boy again, and I don't like him for some reason. My wolf senses go weird whenever he's around.
"Oh, you already kissed," he smiles at himself, "what about me Wednesday?"
Wednesday walked at him, "You?" Tyler, I'm losing my mind if you're still thinking that I like you.
"I know that's a lie," he shakes his head.
I'm about to hit this damn mf istg; leave my girl alone.
"Stop it, Tyler, maybe we can help you find better emo girls," Wednesday glanced at me.
"Really?" she mouthed.
"No offense, ma'am," I smiled with my teeth. I'm definitely interupting a heated session, yes.
Tyler reached into his pocket and revealed Wednesday's missing stopwatch.
"This is useless; why did I even take it?"
"Where did you take that?" Wednesday is slowly approaching him.
"Doesn't matter; this stuff is useless to me now," he said, dropping the stopwatch to the floor, where it broke apart.
"Why would you do that, you idiot?" Wednesday yelled at him, even though he's being a jerk just because Wednesday doesn't feel the same way.
"Get out." Wednesday pushed him out the door.
As Wednesday pushes Tyler out, I see bright green lights coming from the broken stopwatch; it's making a symbol of...wait—an hourglass? It's reversed; the sand goes back to the top.
Shit, don't tell me—
"Wednesday!"
