November 17th, 1971. Wishaw, Scotland. Kelsey Watson; A small 2-year-old girl sitting in her bedroom, playing with a plush cat. This cat had long white and orange fur with specks of brown. It had a name, which she couldn't remember, so she just called it "kitty." It did start with a K, however. Kelsey had platinum blonde hair, freckles, and soft blue eyes. Her outfit consisted of a dark red plaid dress with a white collar, knee-high white socks, and small black mary jane shoes. Her platinum blonde hair was tied into short pigtails by her ears, naturally curling inwards. Kelsey was in her own wee world, where her toy cat was her best friend and her whole life was dancing leprechauns, rainbows, unicorns, streams of chocolate, swirling rides, and flashing lights. As she was in her own world, she could hear her parents discussing something in the other room before her mother walked in.
"Kelsey, darling, Daddy and I are going to run oot tae get something, we'll be back soon, alright?" The woman spoke gently to her. Kelsey nodded.
"Okay, mama! Kitty says bye!" She smiled and made her cat plush wave to her mother. Her mother, Amelia, crouched down to her level with a soft smile.
"Bye kitty. Kelly, gie me a hug before I go." Amelia stuck her arms out as her daughter shuffled into her arms. As she hugged her, she lifted her up off the ground and ran to the front door with her, Kelsey giggling the whole way. "You've gotta say bye tae Daddy too." Amelia laughed.
"There's my bonnie wee lassie." Kelsey's dad smiled and took her out of Amelia's arms. "I'll see you later tonight, alright Kelly? Behave, and the same goes tae kitty." Kelsey giggled and nodded.
"Okay Daddy, I'll make sure kitty doesn't eat the house." She laughed.
"That's a good girl, run along now." Her dad set her down and Kelsey scampered out of the room, and back to her bedroom. Amelia and Rory, her parents, were successful people. They ran their own business, a high paying one at that. They were incredibly powerful people and were able to give Kelsey anything she wanted. They only ever wanted the best for their daughter. Her parents left the house, got in their car, and began to drive away, driving to their office to pick up a few things.

As they were passing through a desolate intersection with no other cars on the road, they went to drive through the intersection. As they passed the conjoining road, another car flying down the road at high speeds hit them, sending their car off the road and squishing between a tree and the other vehicle. Both Amelia and Rory's vision quickly went black. Amelia started to wake up, as her sore, scratched-up, bloody body was being dragged out of the car. She slowly blinked open her eyes, she couldn't see well, all she could make out was a fire and the face of the person dragging her by the arm. She'd seen this person on the news before. He was a wanted hitman. Somebody had hired him. It was at this point Amelia knew her fate was sealed. She'd never make it home for her poor wee Kelsey ever again. She could somewhat make out the figure of her husband on the ground nearby, multiple puncture wounds across his chest.
"...Ro-...Rory..." She mumbled weakly. Abruptly, Amelia was then dropped to the ground, grunting as her back hit the cement. The same man who dropped her towered above her, a knife already covered in blood in his hand. It clicked for Amelia. Rory was dead, she was next. She was too weak to speak, all she had to do was pray that her daughter wasn't next. She still had a whole life ahead of her. A tear rolled down her cheek and hit the concrete beneath her. The man raised the knife, then plunged it into her abdomen, then quickly pulled it out again as a pained scream escaped her throat. The knife was stabbed into her again, hitting between her ribs, and puncturing her lungs. Amelia could feel her life drain from her quicker than ever. As the knife kept being driven through her and her agonizing screams were ignored, she could see a figure of a man step closer to her. She knew this man. He was in debt to her and her husband. Debt by thousands. As she gasped for air a final time, she thought of Kelsey. She hoped she'd live a good life without her parents and would find a new family to love her and keep her safe. Finally, as Amelia and Rory lay dead, the hitman stepped away, standing back next to the man who'd hired him, the man in debt.
"What do you want me tae dae now?" The hitman asked.
"Use shards of glass from the windscreen tae fill the stab wounds then put them back in the car. Nobody can know this was a hired assassination." The man replied. The hitman complied, driving shards of glass into the stab wounds on Amelia and Rory before placing them back in the crashed, on-fire car.

Later that night, Kelsey heard a knock on the door. She wandered out of her room and towards the front door, which after a bit of struggling due to her short stature, she managed to get open. 2 police officers stood at the door, peering down at her.
"Are you Kelsey Watson, dearie?" One of the officers, a woman, spoke softly. Kelsey nodded. "Can my partner and I come in?" She asked. Again, the child nodded. The officers stepped inside and shut the door behind them, then walked over to the couch and sat down, Kelsey following and crawling her way up onto an armchair. "So... your mummy and daddy have been in an accident. I'm afraid they won't be coming home..." The woman spoke quietly. Kelsey didn't understand.
"When will they come home?" She asked innocently.
"Never, darling. They're dead..." The woman said.
"Do you know what death is?" The other officer added. Kelsey nodded. She'd had a pet fish before who'd died. She started to cry as the lady officer stood up and pulled her into a comforting hug.
"You'll have to go live in an orphanage, do you know what that is?" The woman spoke. Kelsey shook her head. "Okay, well these really nice people will be taking you in and they will take care of you until you get adopted by a lovely family. I can promise you, you'll be in good hands." Kelsey didn't say anything, she just sat there, sobbing. "Would you like help packing your things, hun?" The lady offered.
"Y-Yes please..." Kelsey said quietly. The woman stood up and offered Kelsey her hand to walk to her room and start packing her things. 40 minutes passed and Kelsey's room had been almost completely packed. The officers loaded her bags into the car and took her to the police station, where she was handed off to another woman named Isla, who took her to the orphanage.

After arriving at the orphanage, Kelsey was shown to a room where her things were unpacked and put into a nearby dresser. She shared a room with a boy a year older than her named Graham. Graham Allen. As she pulled out her plush kitty from her bag, Graham noticed, walked up behind her, and took it from her.
"Hey! Give that back!" Kelsey said.
"No! It's ugly!" Graham replied loudly. He took it and walked over to his side of the room, where a dresser sat, and stuffed the cat into the dresser. As Kelsey rushed over to the dresser to search for her beloved kitty, Graham started to yell for Isla. Just as Isla came upstairs, Kelsey's arm was deep in his dresser, feeling around for her plushie.
"Graham, what's going on here?" Isla puzzled.
"She's trying to take my kitty! I had tae hide it from her!" Graham said. This boy may have been 3 years old, but boy was he smart.
"Kelsey, is this true?" Isla said as she pulled her away from the dresser.
"No! It's my kitty, he took it!" Kelsey whined. Isla had believed Graham, he'd been here longer than Kelsey, and never once had he acted up like this.
"Kelsey, I know you're new here, but we don't tolerate liars here. I'd like you to apologize tae Graham for taking his toy." She said.
"No! It's mine! It was my mama's kitty!" Kelsey shouted. This whole situation was making her angry, especially since the cat was the most meaningful thing to her at this time.
"Kelsey," Isla said sternly. "Do I need to put you in time-out?"
"No!!" Kelsey yelled. "I want my kitty!" Isla took her by the hand and led her out of the room and out to a step, where she was told to sit down and stay for the next 10 minutes. Kelsey, begrudgingly, sat down and stayed there, her anger simmering inside of her eventually coming out through tears. Angry tears. Her kitty was gone and she knew she wasn't able to get it back. What made it worse, was it belonged to her mother. Her mother had named it something that started with a K, but no matter how hard Kelsey tried, she couldn't remember what it was. All she had to do now was sit and wallow in self-pity.
