Okay, so remember when I said that I was going to keep you waiting till a few more chapters to reveal Ryoma's past love? Yeah...apparently I suck at keeping secrets (>_>). So I'm revealing it early. Leave comments, and I hope you enjoy! I love you all for reading my story!
Ps, I owe nothing, but the plot.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~Underneath the Echizen household, Ryoma's fingers flew across the keyboard of his computer as he typed up his mission report. Suddenly, his cellphone started to ring. The twelve year old looked at the caller id, and picked it up. "Tori? What does she want?" he muttered as he pressed talk.
"Dark as night, the cat runs through the day," Ryoma greeted. "Light as day, the bird flys thought the night," Tori greeted back. "What do you want, Tori? I'm a bit busy here," Ryoma said as he pressed the speaker button and set it next to keyboard. "This isn't a business call. I just wanted to catch up with my favorite agent," Tori replied.
"You're lying. You wouldn't call unless there's a mission, or it's something important," Ryoma replied bluntly. Tori sighed, "Fine. The higher ups want to reform your old squad," she replied. Ryoma stopped typing and picked up his phone. "Did Washi even try and get out of that?" he asked seriously.
"As far as I know, no. I think he agrees with them," Tori replied. Ryoma cursed under his breath and leaned back into his chair. "That's a bunch of bull, I swear. Last time my old team went on a mission, we broke all the rules that were set in place. And they want to reopen it?" he asked. "I know, but you guys are our best agents," Tori pointed out.
"Oh, save it. Have you even talked to the other six?" Ryoma asked. "Nope, I thought you should talk to them," Tori replied. Ryoma sighed and rubbed his forehead. "Fine, I'll see what I can do. But I'm not making any promises," he replied. "Even if you don't, the higher ups will force them to agree," Tori commented.
The twelve sighed in annoyance. "God, do I know it. I'll talk to you later, I've got the boss on my back for a status report," he said. Tori chuckled, "Washi-sama giving you drama?" she asked. "You have no idea," Ryoma muttered as he rubbed his forehead. Tori laughed, "Well, talk to you later, Neko-chan. And good luck," she said.
Ryoma sighed again as Tori ended the call. He leaned back in his chair and groaned. "Damn it, those higher up idiots. Bringing back my squad, what are they thinking?" the twelve year old thought as he looked up at the stone ceiling, his eyes reflecting worry through them.
Night jumped up onto his deck, and mewed. Ryoma leaned forward and started to stroke the robo-kitty's head. "Hey there, Night. All done with your patrol?" he asked. Night mewed again and streaked its paw out to its master. Ryoma nodded and reached into his draw, and pulled out a paw shaped device.
"You know what to do," the twelve year old said as he set the device on the deck. Night mewed and placed its paw on the device. The black cat's eyes started to glow as images popped up on Ryoma's computer. Ryoma leaned against the desk as images flashed across the screen.
The images were shots taken by Night that were saved onto its hard drive. It helped Ryoma mange the town from his own basement, and allowed him to spy on everyone.
Ryoma widened his eyes as a brief flash of navy blue hair flashed past the screen, and was gone. "It couldn't be..." he muttered as he leaned forward, and started to type rapidly on his keyboard. "Night, fast forward," Ryoma ordered. Night mewed and the image started to go by faster. With very skilled eyes, Ryoma scanned the images.
"Stop," Ryoma ordered suddenly. The robot cat mewed and the image stopped. Staring at him from behind the screen were the kind brown eyes of the boy that Ryoma had fallen in love with all those years ago. "Y-Yukimaru-kun..." the yellow cat eyed boy whispered as he leaned back in his chair dazed.
