Chapter 4: First day on the job

The two gems warped to celestial galaxy warp station. Bright blue flashes from the warp pads, revealing gems coming and going. Ships in the sky, some coming in for a landing. Gems leaving ships and entering them. It was quite the sight for peri.
"Wow- it's beautiful here!"
Wisteria chuckled. "Just wait till you see planet phion."
"Planet phion?" She turned to her agate.
"One day I'll take you." With a sweet grin, Wisteria made her way towards a purple ship, with peri following closely at her side. The many gems moving in all directions pulled peri's attention as she walked. Some were tall athorative gems marching with pearls and guards along their sides. One in particular was a emerald. A high ranked general that often captained ships.

"Wow.." peri admitted, truly amazed by the station.
"Periwinkle do pay attention please."
"Of course- apologies my agate."
"Cmon now, you can call me wisteria remember?" Wisteria looked back at her.
"With all due respect, we were trained to only refer to you as your professional status. I would break protocol-"
"Periwinkle I assure you. Any strict protocol like that you may forget about. From now own you and I may remain on first name basis."

First name basis? That is so casual and personal. Is that even okay?

"If that is what you'd like wisteria."
They got to the large purple ship that the agate owned. The ship's doors opened smoothy to reveal a bright lilac inside. The inside of the ship was pristine. There was a round clear window that wrapped around the front of the shopping, with two seats in the front right before a control mantle. One of the seats were bigger, clearly for the agate. But one smaller seat sat next to it.
Peri stepped inside the ship, getting ready to take control of the flight.
"Where are we headed wisteria?"
"Set our coordinates to Lunar station." The agate sat down in her chair as she pulled up a holo screen.
"Yes my agate."

Oops- I did it again.

The ship began to hover in the hair, taking a gentle but swift lift into the dark blue sky. The whole horizon was perfectly in peri's view. Other than the celestial station, the dark blue ocean consumed the planet. It beautifully sparkles in the moon's light. It was so perfectly still. It was not long before the planet was just a speck in the distance as Wisteria's ship flew swiftly in the dark abyss.
Tiny stars in the distance quickly flew by her view as peri stared at the black space before her.

A feeling of delight grew inside peri- a slight smile growing on her face. She had done it. She was finally pursuing her purpose in life. The stars seemed to align just in her favor in that very moment. She loved that her owner was already so kind towards her. All owners must be this way towards pearls. She wondered if Tahitian would experience that kind of owner as well. Peri's delight lowly turned into a feeling of concern thinking about Tahitian. She didn't seem too happy...walking out of the reef alongside that platinum. Come to think of it, the platinum seemed dull as well. Her mind began to wonder more before being cut off by wisteria's voice.

"How are we on time periwinkle?"
Peri's awareness became sharp once again. Her eyes darted for the GPS on the holo screen.
"Only 10 minutes!"
"Good. We won't be late then."
"If I may ask, late for what my agate?"
"Late for the jasper trial."
"Jasper trial?"
"There was an attack yesterday at solar station. Today we are going to give our witness statements and assign judgement."
"Oh..does that mean you saw it happen?"
"I did." Her expression flattened, becoming slightly more dull.
"There was a fight with the Guards at solar. They started an argument with jasper, and he couldn't keep his fists to himself unfortunately. I was walking the halls, chatting with an aqua when this transpired."

"How unfortunate.." peri added.
"It is. But at least your going to your first trail today. You get to see how it all works. Have you learned about lunar's trials at all?"
"I did. Amber went over different planet customs, and briefly mentioned the trials."
"Then you'll know that not all judgements are are done fairly?"
"Unfortunately." Peri said, watching as a tiny purple triangle slowly grew in the far distance.

"We are almost there."

The ship slowed down towards the entrance of lunar's doors. The doors slid open to let the ship land.
Once landed, peri and wisteria were greeted by an aqua and cyan pearl, with a quartz alongside them.
The ship's doors opened and holo steps appeared for wisteria and peri. Wisteria gracefully stepped down the ship to greet the aqua.

"Greetings aqua."
"Greetings wisteria. I see you have a little friend?" The aqua tilted her head slightly towards the small pearl walking up from behind the agate.
"Ah, yes. Aqua meet my new pearl periwinkle." She held her hands closely behind her back, showing periwinkle off.
"Greetings aqua. It is lovely to meet you." Peri dipped her head.
"Well I'll have to say, you picked a good one alright. Very well mannered." The aqua smiled.
"Indeed I did."
" I feel as of lately the pearls have become so overly emotional and tempered. It's pitiful really."
"Is that so?" Wisteria replied.
"I swear the nacres aren't putting nearly as much effort into them anymore. That's why they aren't as high quality...Anyhow, I'll give you the updates on the trial." The aqua flittered over to the staircase, with her pearl and quartz closely behind.
Wisteria walked alongside the aqua as they talked specifics about the trial,, while peri fell closely behind. She looked over at the aqua's pearl cyan. She had never met a cyan pearl before. Wouldn't hurt to greet her.

"Greetings." Peri said, her voice calm and bright, but not too loud as to disturb their owner's conversation.
"Greetings. I'm cyan." The cyan pearl spoke lowly.
"I'm Periwinkle"
The cyan pearl's gaze went back to her aqua. Nothing else was spoken. The cyan clearly wasn't interested in making small talk.

How awkward. Should I not have spoken?

"I love your hair." Peri complimented her to try to keep the flow of conversation.

"Thank you."

The silence consumed the air, with the cyan ignoring peri once again.

Alright then...

After few doors, they finally made it to the main hall. Various shades of purple everywhere. One end of the hallway was a cubby room for quartz soldiers. The other, a cell room. Straight the center was the court room.
Gems seemed to be entering the court room now. The kyanite inside was speaking to a azure pearl. Probably making sure the trial was about to go as smooth as possible.
Aqua, wisteria And peri walked in the court room. The seats were filled with many gems, all mainly being high status gems and their assistants. The front row was meant for gems directly involved in the case. Meant for wisteria.
They made their way to the frost seats. The aqua from before took a seat in the middle rows.
A few minutes had gone by. Quiet chatter could be heard by some of the hessonites and azurites.
Peri then looked at the head kyanite. Next to them, sat her assistant azure pearl. She resembled the azure pearl that she had shared a reef with not that long ago. But it couldn't be..right?

The doors opened, letting in two zircons. Lawyers. They were thin gems, dressed appropriately in suits corresponding with their color. A blue and pink zircon walked to their stands up front. Then a bold voice boomed.

"Will everyone place your attention on me please. The trial will now be starting." The kyanite announced.
The chatter soon died down, with every gem's gaze on the judge.

Things were about to go down.
