"So much work" Hephaestus sighs tiredly as he finally takes a break
Despite the Ragnarok, there were still a lot of things the gods wanted him to make and he had to stay in his forge to work on them.
"Hephi!" he hears someone shout and when he looks towards the person, he sees his sister and ex-queen of Helheim
"Persephone" Hephaestus smiles at her "Did you need anything?"
"I..." Persephone looked nervous which made him raise an eyebrow "...Have you seen the name of the ones that are participating in the Ragnarok?" she asks not looking at Hephaestus
"No, I had no time to do it and I didn't even participate in the council were they made the decision of exterminating or not the humans" he says confused to why she would ask that
"...Here" she says and gives him the list
Confused, Hephaestus picks it up and starts reading it just to freeze when he sees two names.
"Persephone....tell me that I am seeing wrong" he says taking a deep breath but Persephone just looks sadly at him "...Did their turn already come?" he asks
"No, Hades will fight now and then it will be Beelzebub's turn...I'm unsure when Nikolas will fight but it might be soon" she answers while grabbing her brother's hand
"...What will I do Persephone?" he asks in a whisper "I am unable to see Beelzebub because of Satan and now I find my oldest son just to probably lose both of them" he mumbles and Persephone hugs him
"We...we could try and stop the fight?" Persephone says but she sounds unsure
"But would we be able to do it?" he asks "Zeus wouldn't listen to us to stop since he already lost Uncle Poseidon and Hercules to the humans" Hephaestus adds with a sigh
"...No, he would!" Persephone says suddenly while separating herself from Hephaestus "We could ask grandma for help! Everyone would listen to her and she would help you because you wish to protect your kids besides those with brains now that at this point we need the humans to have a peaceful life.... especially because Helheim doesn't have enough space for more than 1 billion souls" she says serious and Hephaestus let's himself think about what she said
"But would she? I'm not a very loved god even if I make everyone's weapons, jewelry, etc" Hephaestus says because he knew that almost no one liked him and at best tolerated him
"Hephaestus....you are the god of fire, metalworking, stone masonry, forges, the art of sculpture, technology, volcanoes and blacksmiths" Persephone starts "The one god everyone needs no matter how much they push you to the side and finally the mother to the heirs of Helheim" she says looking at Hephaestus eyes who looks confused
"But Zagreus-"
"He isn't" Persephone sighs "Hades may love him as a son but Zagreus is my son with Zeus and so he can't be considered a true heir of Helheim besides he isn't interested in being it. Even Macaria and Melinoe do not wish to be the heirs" she explains and Hephaestus nods in understanding
"Sometimes I question how I was able to have babies with him on our first time and you didn't when both of our bodies are more connected to life than death" Hephaestus comments and Persephone smiles at that
"I may have an answer for that but I think you won't take it as a truth" Persephone says and Hephaestus nods at that because he can guess what she may say and he certainly doesn't believe that to be the truth "Anyways, let's go talk with grandma and then we will go pick my adorable nephews since I also think I found how to help Bubs with Satan" she adds
"Really?" Hephaestus asks hopeful
"Yes and for Nikolas we only need to give him yours or Hades' blood so he can be considered a god as he should have been" she says and helps her brother get up "We will save your sons and nothing will ever separate you again" she declares and Hephaestus can only smile and hope his sister is correct
And with that the two leave to meet their grandma and hope they arrive before Hephaestus loses any of his kids forever.
