Penumbras walked around the fire as Dusty explained to the local Law keeper what happened. Nothing was left worth salvaging. The law keeper said something, and Dusty took a step back.  After a moment, Dusty walked over to Penumbras.

"You or someone else is gonna have to bail me."

"WHAT?!" Penumbras yelped with shock. "WHY?!"

"He thinks I burned the place down, and you worked with me on this. He thinks we're trying to pull some kind of 'insurance scam' and isn't convinced."

"Well, we'll see what he has to say when I SUE HIM!"

"Not worth it, bro. Just pay the bail."

"FOR SOMETHING THAT YOU NEVER HAPPENED TO DO?!"

Dusty looked down. "If they were here they would understand, but its just fantasy to people who've never seen it."

"Well, maybe it'll happen to them and they WILL understand."

"Doubt it."

"So what are we gonna d-"

Just then, the Queen of the sandwings landed in the sand. She must have been visiting the den and saw the smoke.

"What! Is! THIS?!"

The Law Keeper bowed. "They claim that a fireball burned down HIS HUT!" The Law Keeper pointed a talon at Penumbras, who scowled. "I think the mudwing burned down the place and the nightwing let him in order to play an insurance scam."

"Ah..hmmm.... seams like a fireball COULD be possible."

"Perhaps we should take this one, considering he and his friend are the only survivors we've met."

Penumbras looked up in amazement. She wanted to take a scummy nightwing in HER palace? But when he looked at her daughter, she was nodding in agreement.

                                                                    .          .          .          .

Penumbras and Dusty looked up at the marble walls. Amazement was everywhere they both looked. After a moment they entered a morgue, which was dark and musty. As they approached each body, they seemed burned in some places, other bodies not burned at all.

"Notice anything strange?" Princess Umbra asked.

"Yes...YES!" Penumbras shouted. "They all have SMILES on their faces."

"Exactly," said Umbra. Her mother was conducting business with others in a council chamber. "we call this onslaught 'The Final Grin'. And we think its supernatural."

"wait...supernatural, like, as in ghosts? "Penumbras asked with an edge in his voice.

"Yes," Umbra said. "Exactly like ghosts."
