Amara pov

"Why ate you frowning?" My fellow inmate asked "is prince charming not coming today?"
"He is not" I said plopping on the bed feeling dissapointed
Since the day Bruce visited me for the first time, he has been coming every week. He never miss a single day.
Before he came, I always thought that days are too long and boring. But, now I had something to look forward to.
I didn't lie when I told him that I loved him. He was so oblivious to think that his feelings were one sided. I mean, I was the one who walked into his room for the first time that we slept together.
But mother, my mother was scary. I knew that at that time, I had no power over me. My mother had all the power, she planned everything so perfectly and made me think that after I get a rich man, love is not important.
But Bruce prove me wrong. I love Bruce so much, and I'm glad that he is atleast willing to be my friend.
Days passed became week and week became months and finally the day came. The day were I was going to see the outside world again.
During all this time, alot happened. As I said once, Bruce never pass a week without visiting me. Our friendship became strong, it was as if we were dating again but the difference is, we were not doing what couple do.
My mother died three months ago, I heard that she planned to escape from prison with three other inmates and they were shot to death. I was sad, but somehow I thought that is the only way to make her stop.
"Inmate 1650, it's time" officer said motioning me to get out of my cell
I sighed feeling a bit excited that I'm going to be free again. I hugged my two cell mates before walking out.
I was given my stuff that I came with two years ago and a new outfit to change into.
"Your boyfriend brought you those" police lady said sensing my confusion
"Friend" I corrected her
"Yeah a friend who is a boy" she said sarcastically
Tsk! I rolled my eyes and walk away to change. After a few minutes I was ready to go
They escorted me up to the big gates and open it for me. I walk a few steps outside before halting on my steps and a big smile crept on my lips.
Bruce was standing infront of me leaning against a car. As soon as he saw me, he opened his arms and I run quickly to his embrace
"Welcome back" he said
"Thanks" I said then we pull out
He opened a car door for me and I entered, he did the same and drove off. We stayed in silent as he drive, I didn't even know where i will be staying. I don't have a single penny and right now, I can't even go to my sister.
"Where are we going?" I asked then it hit me "Don't tell me you will take me back to my sister. Jared will kill me" I said
"Just relax, I'm not taking you back home" he turn to look at me with a smile "you will return when your ready"
I nod my head and relax. We drove for three hours, we were going outside the city to I don't know where.
Finally, we arrived to a house that was inside big gates. We entered and I finally had the chance to see it clearly.
It was a nice small house, not too small, like a two bedrooms kinda house. It has a garden and a small parking with one car parked. In short, it was a really beautiful house.
"Who's house is this?" I asked when the car parked
"Mine" Bruce replied shortly and then he got off, I did the same "Come" he said walking towards it.
I didn't have anything to say, I just walk in with hin but alot of questions were running through my mind.
Being a bodyguard and able to buy a house like this and a car, this was something I didn't understand. Looks like Jared pays him well.
"Oh! You're here" a woman said smiling at Bruce
She was wearing casual, blue jeans and a t-shirt. My heart beat fast. Is she his girlfriend?
"Yes, how are the things?" Bruce asked
"Perfect. Everything is ready" she said with a smile and then turn to look at me "You must be Amara"
"Yes" I said shortly with a smile.
"I'm Kara, nice to meet you"
"Likewise" we shake hands
"Kara is a lady who helps to maintain the cleanliness of the house" Bruce said
I sighed in relief. So, she is not the girlfriend. Not even a friend
"I should go. Everything is set" Kara said slinging her backpack on her shoulder "Amara, nice to meet you again" she touched my shoulder and left
"She is friendly, you will like her" Bruce said when I turn to look at her
I nod
"So, are you hungry? Or you will shower first?" He asked
"I will eat first" I replied
"Okay, I figured that you must have missed a home cooked meal and that's why I asked Kara to cook for us" he said guiding me to the dining area
We sat and the table was already set, so we started eating. I looked at him and thought that this is the right time to ask what is on my mind
"So, Jared pays you really well, huh?" I started
He stared at me and smile nervously "why?" He asked
"For a bodyguard, you surely have alot" I said
"I'm not a bodyguard Amara. I'm a private investigator" he said stuffing food on his mouth
"Then why do you follow Jared around like a bodyguard. I mean you even stay at his house. You drove me to school and everyone else in the house. Is that what a private investigator do?"
"That's because I only work for Jared and his family and sometimes there is no job for me that's why I do other things too"
"I don't believe you" I said staring at him then I take a glass of juice and take a sip without breaking eye contact "when I was taken into custody, Jared said that he had videos of me and you. He told me that if I didn't tell the truth then he would expose them and everyone will know that you are the one who was sleeping with me. It was a simple case but he chose to keep the videos and find other ways, was he protecting you?" I asked
"I don't know" he said finally breaking eye contact
"Bruce!" I called "there is something you're not telling me"
"You wanna know why Jared did all that?" He asked and I nod "because he is my brother"
"Pardon?" I asked
"Jared is my brother, as in siblings" he said
My jaw dropped for how much I was suprised.
How? How come I never knew this.
