Leonardo started to speak.  "I was speaking with Erin on the phone, I was worried about him and why he hadn't come home already. He told me that he was taking a test to get into an AP class.  I was going to have Diego," that name made a shiver run down my spine, "drop me off over by Erin's college so we could walk in the snow, but I couldn't find him."  Leonardo stopped to catch his breath.

"So I was going to walk there when Erin started hyperventilating. He told me that someone was following him was looking suspicious. I asked him if the person was holding any weapons, and he was holding a knife." Leonardo explained while patting my hair calmly. "I told Erin to calm down and walk away as fast as he could. While I got on my motorcycle and started speeding towards Erin's college." Leonardo explained taking a deep breath in.

"When I got there I found Erin's phone on the ground smashed, like someone had stepped on it.  I searched everywhere within a ten block radius.  I couldn't find him."  The looks that where on my parents face were describing the fear that I felt that day, my fear was probably worse.

"I sent search parties out to look for him all through the the day and all throughout the night." Leonardo pulled me into a hug. "It was the next day when someone had gotten a lead." Leonardo explained, "at first I didn't believe them, they weren't anyone I knew or a mafia mob-ster. So I didn't trust them at first. But then they showed actual evidence of Erin being taken away down some streets my men hadn't checked yet."

This story was hurting me, and I wanted to cry but I stayed strong. I needed to, I had lived through the worst part of my life and now I need to come to terms with it.

"I gathered the dogs up-," Leonardo was cut off by my mother. "You have dogs?" She said changing the subject. "There's probably 20 of them, Mama." I explained to her. Her eyes got all big when she heard me say that. "Can I meet them?" She asked, I looked up at Leonardo. His eyes wanted to say no but I could tell he wanted to make my mother happy.

"Sure," He said and got up off the bed to open the door for the dogs. He had left me on the bed, to go over to the big door with scratch marks covering up and down it. Leo opened the door revealing the black furry dogs. They came rushing into the room like water breaking through a dam. They rushed to greet the new people in the room, then quickly side tracked over to me. They practically jumped on the bed to get to me.

"There so fluffy!" My mother said cooing at the dogs calling them a good boy. It was nice to see my mother and father smile. Leonardo closed the door and headed back to the bed. He sat down, pulling me into his lap, he continued his part of the story.

"As I was saying I took the dogs to the place and had the sniff you out." He said, I looked shocked I didn't know that the dogs could track scents. "They can track anything."  Leo said leaning down to kiss me.  The kiss caught me off guard but it was very needed.  "They sniffed Erin out.  The dogs attacked the guards that were standing in front of the wear house, while I went to go find you."

Leo looked down at me.  I saw a small smile spread across his lips.  He looked back to my parents, who were still playing with the dogs.  The dogs were all laying down on there stomachs while my parents rub their back.  "I found Erin, tied to a chair.  The scene was gruesome to see.  It pains me to think about."  Leo said and started to get choked up.

My mother had a look on her face, like she wanted Leo to explain more but didn't want to bother him.  "Mama," I said getting her attention.  "I was beaten, by a metal tipped whip, that's why I have fading marks along my body."  I said.  She was shocked, so was my dad.  Who could blame them.

My father was to stunned to speak, that same with my mother.  "Yes, the bruises Erin has is from that, it was just a really gruesome thing to remember.  I untied Erin from the chair and hugged him, I feared if I were to let go he would disappear."  Leo said, I looked at him.  I never knew that was how he felt in the moment.

"We were going to leave when Diego, my ex right hand man, stopped us and pulled a gun to us."  Leonardo said.  I watched as my mothers face dropped, along with my fathers.  They looked at each other quickly than looked at me and Leo.  "Why would he do that?"  My mother shouted frantically, she started to panic.

My father gripped her tight and hugged her.  "Mama," i called softly getting up off the bed and walking over to the hugging session my parents were in.  "I am fine."  I reassured her while hugging her back.  It was a quiet hug with much sorrow, but it was reassuring at the same time.

It was a few minutes before I moved back to the bed.  I layer back down on Leo's lap.  My head was resting on his lap, while he plays with my hair, continuing in with the story.

"Anyways," Leonardo said re-starting the story.  "Diego was holding the gun to our, well my head.  He wanted to take over my mafia group."  Leonardo said, he was going to continue when my father interjected.  "Why didn't you offer to leave and have him take your place instead of holding a gun to your head?"  My father asked still with my mother attached to his side.

"It's a rule in the mafia, if you want to take over someone's position you have to kill them."  Leonardo said looking up from me to look at my father.  "So he wanted to take over my position and I was willing to step down without having any blood on any of our hands, but he just wouldn't give it up."  Leonardo said taking a deep breath in. "He would stop, i had no plan and no idea what to do in that moment, all I knew was that I should protect Erin." Leonardo said the last part and looked down at me.

"Why didn't you shoot him?" My father asks. "Well Diego told me to throw the gun away or he would have shot Erin." Leonardo answered. "I didn't have a plan," Leo continued on with the story. "But Erin did. He started putting things into Diego's head about what would happen after he were to suit me an Erin.  When Erin got the chance he would in h closer to the gun I had tossed to the side."  Leonardo said his voice starting to shake just a bit.

He be was getting close to where i shot Diego in the head.  "When Diego was distracted Erin grabbed the gun and tossed it to me."  Leonardo said softly, there were small tears pricking his eyes.  "I had shot Diego and we stomach.  His blood was splattered everywhere.  Before Erin could look i quickly enveloped him into a hug protecting him from the sight he could have seen."

I looked up at Leonardo, could it really have been bad.  "Erin, it was really bad."  Leo said kissing my lips.  "In Diego's last moments alive he still tried to kill me.  Luckily Erin had heard the cocking of the gun Diego was holding and acted quicker that Diego."  Leonardo paused leavening my parents on edge.

When Leo didn't continue fast enough my mother asked what happened, he eyes scanning both our faces.  "Erin had taken my gun and shot Diego right in the middle of his eyes."  Leonardo said taking a small moment to collect himself.  "You shot a gun!"  My mother yelled quickly as she started to fan her self.  "Yeah, Mama I had to do what I had to do, if not then Leo would have died." I said to her.

She was at a breaking point. "Is this story almost over?" She asked probably wanting to go back to bed and forget this even happened. "It is over," Leonardo said giving my parents a small smile. "I am sorry I put you and your son through all of this." Leo apologized.

"It is quite alright, as long as you don't put him in harms way ever again." My mother threatened. "Don't worry, I won't." Leo said looking down to me.  Both my mother and father got up from the floor biding both of us a good night.  "Well that was stressful."  I said laying on the bed and letting out a loud and long sigh.

"Yes, it really was." Leonardo said laying next to me. Leo pulled me close to his body as sleep over came me.

This day was something else.
