Chapter 36

There just never seemed to be any good news lately. Mai nearly dropped the contents in her hands when Kiba answered her question as to why Team 7 appeared to be in shock when they met up. Danzo had ordered the execution of Sasuke Uchiha for being a traitor to the Village. All efforts were to hunt him down at all costs. On top of that, the Uchiha had attacked Kumogakure at the same time Konoha faced Pein. The Eight-Tailed Beast was now in the hands of the Akatsuki. Because of the former Leaf Ninja's involvement, Lightning Ninjas requested an audience to inform the Hokage of the matter. Meaning, Danzo gave the Raikage permission to dispose of Sasuke.

The man was livid that the host, his younger brother, had been caught and did not know if he was still alive or dead. But he had heard the rumors of what happened to the Kazekage. The Raikage wanting nothing more than to kill the now S-Ranked Missing Ninja. When Naruto and Sakura approached Sai to gain more info on Danzo, the ninja from Kumogakure overheard them talking about Sasuke. It wasn't a friendly interaction at first, but upon learning it was a Tailed-Beast that had been Sasuke's target, Naruto offered to talk with them in private. However, the Genin refused to disclose any information on the wanted criminal. Instead, he offered his assistance to find the man known as Killer B.

It wasn't enough though. The fact that information was being hidden did not sit well with the female Lightning Ninja. But Naruto did not want the cycle of hatred to continue. If they killed Sasuke then the teen could not guarantee his friends would let that slide. Which in turn, they'd target those from the Land of Lightning to extract their revenge. Nothing would be settled, and understanding her rage, Naruto said,

"Hit me instead."

And the female did just that. She beat him to a pulp. If it wasn't for Sai stepping in, she would have never stopped. The Lightning Ninjas left to meet back up with the Raikage elsewhere. He was not in Kumogakure. The Kages were flocking to the Land of Iron for a Summit to discuss the Akatsuki organization. They could no longer sit around and wait for them to die out or for their allies to slowly kill them off. Something was coming.

"They really did a number on you," Kakashi noted.

Yamato, Kakashi, Naruto, Mai, and Sai had gathered in a spare medical tent. Kiba had rushed off to inform the others about news regarding Sasuke. As well as the fact that the new Hokage approved of this.

"You should be looked at by Sakura," Sai pointed out.

He was currently wrapping the bandages around an arm.

"Nah, I don't want to worry her," he answered. "Besides, I'll heal fast."

"You look worse than you did when fighting Pein," Mai pointed out.

Her mind was racing for some kind of solution to the matter regarding Danzo, the Raikage, and Sasuke. What on earth were they going to do? Sasuke had actually joined the very organization that harbored his brother and she couldn't understand his reason for wishing to join. What was he thinking?

"So you can take on the great Akatsuki organization, but when up against a Jounin Lightning Ninja you get ass handed to you? Funny."

Yamato cocked an eyebrow at the mildly amused Phantom Ninja. Naruto huffed, looking away, grumbling at the Be Fong's comment.

"You'd better rest for a while," Kakashi stated.

"I have to go see the Raikage!" Naruto suddenly stated.

"What'll you do when you see him?"

"The Summit is underway," Yamato said. "Every Village has placed restrictions on missions and leaving the borders of the Village."
