Tala Whistletow, a lover of animals, always dreamed she would be destined for adventure. She grew up in a little tree gnome village called Pocoberry. Many members of the Whistletow clan generally set out on a journey (Known as the "Inner Quest") for the Eathern Mother (Videvita) as young adults. Thus, Tala knew she would get her chance to venture out one day. However, as she came into adulthood, she met Meeko, an older gnome who regaled her with tales of his own adventures. They soon fell in love and after settling down, Tala happily set aside her dreams of adventure. She lived contently with her husband Meeko for many years, reveling in the joys of each new addition to their family.
With Meeko's passing, in her 246th year, Tala began taking long walks in the forests surrounding her home to cope with her loss. One day, she happened upon a wounded wolf suffering in the woods.
In the process of caring for the injured wolf, she killed a venomous snake that had coiled itself around the creature's leg. The wolf seemed to take a liking to her and after it healed, revealed himself as a druid named Ulfr. As thanks for her kindness, he began mentoring her in the ways of the druids; however, he would only come to her in his wolf form.
The more she learned, the more Tala began to feel the wish of adventure creeping back into her dreams. Thus, with Ulfr's approval, she decided that if she made it to her 300th year, she would venture out to see what the Eathern Mother had in store for her.
As the last few days of her 299th year came to a close, she made sure to spend lots of time with her family. After a huge celebration, and promising to keep in touch, she finally set out the day after she turned 300.
At the boundary of her village, she was met by her mentor. As a parting gift, Ulfr presented her with a simple leather-corded necklace. The preserved fangs from the snake she had saved Ulfr from, dangled from the leather cord. After saying their warm goodbyes, Tala was ready for the world, not knowing if she would ever return, but excited none the less!
She soon joined a small adventuring party and ventured for about a year before finding the Grove. After rescuing it from darkness, she was gifted the opportunity to become it's protector. Feeling as if she had found her purpose, Tala made her home and took up the mantle as Mistress of the Earthen Mother's Grove. Now that the fate of the Grove may be in danger, it appears Tala's skill and determination will now be put to the test!
