Samantha's parents were beaming with happiness as they walked into their home.
"We had a lovely time," Samantha's mother exclaimed. "Samuel's parents are so nice, and Samuel himself is just wonderful."
Samantha, who had been sitting on the couch watching TV, turned to her parents, looking irritated. "I don't want to hear about it," she snapped. "I'm tired and I don't want to talk about arranged marriages."
Her parents were taken aback by Samantha's response. "What do you mean, arranged marriages?" her father asked, puzzled.
Samantha rolled her eyes. "Come on, Dad. I know what you and Mom are thinking. You want me to praise Samuel so that I can be impressed and agree to marry him because you're friends with his parents. It's ridiculous."
Her parents exchanged a glance, unsure of how to respond. "Samantha, we just want what's best for you," her mother said gently. "We thought Samuel was a nice young man and we wanted you to meet him."
"I don't care," Samantha replied stubbornly. "I don't want to be pressured into getting married to someone just because of some stupid family friendship."
With that, Samantha stormed off to her room. She took a quick shower and fell asleep, feeling frustrated and angry. She didn't want to think about the arranged marriage talk anymore.
