PROLOGUE
"Please tell me that you are reconsidering this," I cried faintly, my voice filled with quiver as my parents looked at each other, clearly mouthing something they did not want me to hear.
"No," They both said together and with my mother coming towards me, I knew something was up. The way she gazed at my father for a split second, I felt like running out of the door and screaming whatever came out of my head.
"It will be good for you," My father mumbled quietly under his breath, cursing my mother's name in vain.
"And a chance to explore the world. Like you always wanted."
The words repeated in my head like a casette player and I felt a pang in my heart, the eyes of both my parents now gleaming with joy, hoping that I'd agree.
"But maybe I should stay at home," I declared and my mum put her hand on my shoulder, trying to guilt trip me. Her blue eyes were now filled with tears as she embraced me for a hug.
"You have to go,"
"But mum-"
"It's only for a year."
I relaxed my body and bit my lip.
"Okay then."
**
I never realised what a huge mistake it would be until now.
