Taylor POV:
Taylor sat on the worn leather couch in her music studio, surrounded by half-finished songs and scattered sheets of lyrics that echoed the turmoil of her heart. The room felt stifling, filled with melodies that once brought her joy but now only amplified the ache in her chest. She ran her fingers through her hair, the weight of the past six years crashing down on her like a tidal wave.
Joe had been her rock, her confidant, and the person she had envisioned a future with. Their relationship had flourished, yet somehow, it had unraveled when she least expected it. The love that had once burned brightly now flickered dimly, leaving her feeling lost and alone. She had poured everything into their connection, only to watch it slip away, leaving behind a hollow space where love once thrived.
With a heavy sigh, she picked up her guitar, strumming absentmindedly, but the chords felt dissonant and out of sync with her emotions. She had tried to channel her heartbreak into her music, hoping that creating would somehow mend the fissures in her heart, but the notes only echoed her sadness. The lyrics she scribbled down felt inadequate, mere shadows of the depth of her pain.
Hours passed in a haze, and she hardly noticed as the sunlight faded, leaving the studio cloaked in a dusky glow. It wasn't until she heard the soft knock on the door that she snapped back to reality.
"Taylor?" Selena's voice came through, tinged with worry. "Are you in there?"
"Yeah," she called back, forcing a weak smile as she set the guitar down.
The door creaked open, and Selena stepped inside, concern etched on her face. "You've been in here for hours. I was starting to get worried. Have you eaten anything?"
Taylor shook her head, guilt washing over her. "I didn't even notice. I just... I don't know, Sel. I thought I could write my way out of this, but it's like I'm stuck."
Selena walked over, her eyes scanning the chaotic studio before settling on Taylor. "You don't have to go through this alone, you know. It's okay to feel hurt. You just lost something really important."
"I thought I could handle it," Taylor admitted, her voice breaking. "I thought we were building something real, something that would last. But it all fell apart. It's like I've been holding onto a fantasy."
Selena perched on the edge of the couch, her expression softening. "You had a real love, Taylor. Six years is a long time. It's okay to grieve that. But you also need to take care of yourself. You can't just lock yourself away and expect the pain to disappear."
Taylor wrapped her arms around her knees, her heart heavy. "I just feel so lost without him. I thought I'd have it all figured out by now. I don't even know who I am without him."
"Hey," Selena said gently, "you're still you. You're more than just your relationship with Joe. You're a powerhouse, and this doesn't define you. Remember how much you've accomplished on your own?"
Taylor managed a small smile at the thought. "I know, but it's hard to remember that right now."
Selena reached for a bottle of water from the nearby table, handing it to Taylor. "Drink this. You need to nourish yourself, both physically and emotionally. And maybe take a break from the music for a bit? Let yourself feel what you need to feel."
Taking a sip of water, Taylor felt the cool liquid wash down her throat, grounding her momentarily. "You're right. I can't keep pretending everything is fine. I need to let myself feel all of this, even if it hurts."
