The weekend came slower than I wanted it. As said, Ye-Jun nor Sila was at the school. Even Rebecca was missing the rest of the week. She did call me every morning to tell her sweet cheeks hello, whoever that is.
But enough about her. I have another problem to deal with right now.
The fear I felt as I watched Malina put on her fingerless gloves made me wish it was still Friday.
"Is it too late to say I'm busy this weekend?"
Shaking her head, she chuckled at me. I think she can smell fear in people. "We won't be sparing today," she said, laying her hand on my shoulder. But those are your sparing gloves.
If you're not about to beat my ass, then what are we doing?
"Emrie has your mother talked with you," she asked, setting a cup ahead of me.
"The sex talk, yes."
I just had another one not too long ago.
I don't know where this is going, but I hope she's not trying to give me one, too.
"Not that talk," she said with a chuckle. "Well then, no, she hasn't," I said. I wasn't really paying attention since I was still trying to figure out the meaning of this cup.
"I guess it's up to me to tell you again," she huffed, but she seemed happy. "I know you're familiar with the supernatural world and know most of the other species, but do you know about witches," she asked.
"I've watched Charmed," I said, playing with the cup.
Realizing I wasn't paying attention, she took the cup from me. "No, Emrie, actual witches."
"No, every time I've tried to study them, it would be in a language I couldn't read," I huffed. It's as if something/someone was keeping me from learning about them. I even tried the internet. Either the words were scrambled, or the website couldn't be reached.
I could get someone else to read it for me, and I wouldn't understand any of it.
"Weird, every beginner text is in English," she mumbled. "Why, do you ask?" I was finally learning about witches. I was praying I could understand what she would say.
"Well, that's what we are," she said, then stood up as if what she said was normal.
"What?!"
I stood up from my spot and focused all my attention on her. "Emrie, you have a familiar. Did you think that was normal," she said in a duh tone.
"I mean, I guess I did."
I grew up around this stuff. Of course, I would. It's the reason I never questioned anything that happened.
She sighed and took her gloves off. Massaging her hands, she shook them. "Where did you get that bite mark," I asked. She had a bite mark around her thumb, and it looked fresh. She rubbed the wound and flexed her hand.
From the wound formed a blood sword.
"Does it hurt?"
I was astonished. She used her blood to form a weapon.
"No, it doesn't, but it does take a lot of mana," she said, shaking her hand. "What's mana?"
"It's like energy, but you can only get it from intimacy." She released her hand, and the blood evaporated. You would've thought the blood would go back into her but no.
"Why didn't it go back in," I asked, and the answer was simple.
"Once the blood exits, it's contaminated," she answered.
