Chapter Thirteen : The Cat's Out In The Bag

Rewind : Star and Marco end up on good terms. Then Star annoyed Marco the entire time because of Cheetos. Marco gets furious upon knowing the real deal and chases her.

"Be on your best behaviour," I asked—no demanded Marco who in turn stared back at me with those ruby eyes and attempted to imitate a middle finger with his paws but ultimately fails.

I snorted, crossing my arms while I tapped my foot simultaneously. "Don't embarrass me, okay?"

Marco snorted, wagging his tail slightly. "Shouldn't you say that to yourself? You're a walking klutz."

"Shut up!" I flushed, unhinging my crossed arms and headed to my cabinet where my mirror was.

Speaking of cabinets, it's actually not just mine...BUT this CAT's too. Basically, he stated that it's also now his cabinet and the nerve.

He placed in his shirts, jeans and jackets like he owns it. I mentally grumbled, meanwhile taking one last glimpse on my own reflection.

I instinctively poked that annoying pimple staying at the right top of my temple, growing uneasy just seeing it. Why is there a pimple? I swear I do my skin care---which is a lie.

That skin care consists of only water and some cheap facial wash I bought at the store.

I'm not spending a couple of bucks for this face. I need my ration of food and some extra cash to splurge for books. My ocean blue eyes stared back at me with my hair tucked on a neat bun.

"You can't fix your mistake---which is your face," Marco piped up in the background.

"You don't need to tell me that!" I hissed, glaring at him through the corners of the mirror.
The stupid, annoying white purred cat licks his whiskers all the while not giving me a spare glance. Damn brat.

I swear he should be more than grateful to me. I let him live on my room for pete sake! A stranger at that!

But I'm not going to worry about him taking advantage of me. He's never going to be interested in me. It's like you're asking to fly. Totally impossible. Likewise.

I pursed my lips, giving up and stepped out of the mirror before making my way to where the cat stood on the floor. I bent down, then flashed him my most sweet, sickly smile.

"I changed my mind. How about you meet my friends? I'm sure they'll love you."

Petty, I know. But I really can't let this cat say whatever he wants.

I motion to open my arms wide and leaned closer, scooping him up in the process. Before he could react, I quickly grabbed his front legs and lift him while he hisses and fumbles with his hind legs.

"Stop moving!" I groan, almost losing my hold with his squirming.

The cat doesn't listen---wow, so shocking, and barred its teeth to try and bite me, but I push him far from me and with what felt like an eternity, dashed to the door with him wriggling like a worm and shut the door before stepping down the stairs.

"Put me down wrench!"

"No way, Jose!" I grunted as he attempts to claw me but fails.

"Star?"

We both paused, then averted our gaze through the figures just stepping inside. Marco takes advantage of my mere guard down and pushes himself out of my hold, dashing through the kitchen.

"Hey!" I hollered, but the cat was out of reach. Damn it.

"What's the commotion all about?"
I turn to face Jackie, looking confused with her eyebrows crossed. She was wearing her usual clothing : some grey crop top, shorts and sandals.
