Lily's P.O.V.
I was patiently waiting for the party to start. Soon enough, there will be a sea of noble guests in the Edith manor. I wasn't too keen on this party since it would just consist of the nobles flaunting their riches and power. Not to mention they're kindness. But I will not be fooled by them. Only the soft hearted are easily swayed by their handsome/pretty looks and their so called intelligence. But once you get past that, all there is to them are rich cowards who use their money, power and influence to hide their true intentions.
A creaking sound echoed through the halls, I swiftly snapped my head back and saw my maid, Amber. She had beautiful, brown hair kept in a messy bun. A butterfly clip neatly tucking away her bangs and revealing her sky blue eyes. She truly is a beautiful person. She came to inform me that the guests had arrived. I nodded and walked towards the place where the party was held. This was a party to celebrate my sister's birthday. Despite her being my sister, I see her as an insolent brat who couldn't shut her trap. She would constantly treat the maids and servants like garbage. My father liked her better because he thinks that she is much smarter than me. My mother knows the truth but decides to keep quiet.
My sister insisted to have a party thrown for her for her 26th birthday. She wanted to meet some suitors for her to marry. It disgusted me to no end. I had to be there to not tarnish the family name. I simply appeared there but hid in the corner of the room. I wore a simple yet elegant blue dress as to not attract attention. Nobody realized I was there and it was probably for the best.
'Why am I even here. I could just be in my room since nobody realizes I'm here anyways. Or maybe I should just walk around the town.' I thought to myself. As I was walking distracted by my own thoughts, I accidentally bumped into someone. I quickly bowed down and apologized, expecting for them to begin screaming until my ears were bleeding. But instead, that person waved it off and said that it was fine. I looked up to see that the person standing there had emerald green eyes and brown hair.
"Are you alright?" he questioned me. I nodded. I apologized once again before excusing myself and going to my room.
'That was embarrassing.' I thought to myself while putting on a black cloak. It was nearing 4 p.m. so I still had time to go out and about before the party will reach it's peak at 5 p.m. The cloak covered my blonde hair and reached until my knee. I hastily jumped out the window and ran towards the gate before jumping once again. It had become my routine to leave a party early for fresh air. Parties were just way too uncomfortable to be in.
I walked around town looking at the architecture. It was interesting but not exactly the brightest. The poor people didn't exactly help it either. Poor people were scattered around either begging for money or straight up just taking it from other people. I saw a group of boys running around playing tag. But once they spotted me, they approached me and asked for some money. I cheerfully gave them some money and told them to spend it wisely. Their eyes radiated with happiness as they excitedly went into a store, presumably for bread.
I continued my walk around town occasionally looking at the architecture. I noticed the sun starting to go down so I decided it was time to head back to the manor. I took a different route this time. A route that went through a park with a peaceful aura. The walk was quiet but I didn't mind it. After all, it was the silence that thought me how to do the things I do today. Upon getting closer to the manor, I saw black smoke and loud screams. Fearing the worst, I ran to the manor as quickly as possible.
To my dismay, my fears became a reality as the burning building before me started burning to the ground. I frantically searched around for my mother. My eyes darted left and right. I saw a woman with bright blonde hair and immediately approached her, hoping she was my mother. Unfortunately, she was a noble woman who wasn't my mother. Once again, I shifted my gaze left and right. Looking around for any signs that she was alive.
After searching around, I found not a single trace of my mother. Tears threatened to fall as I was slowly losing hope. My glassy eyes looked around once again just to be sure that I didn't miss her. But alas, the remaining hope I had left evaporated and I was left there a sobbing mess. My knees buckled and I fell to the ground. Slowly, the distant sound of the Scotland Yard and nobles blended into my surroundings. A high pitched ringing constantly bothering my ears. I took the scene before me and watched in tears as my home, family and entire life crumbled before me.
