╔══ஓ๑🌑๑ஓ══╗

" Something so endless.. As are these woods. "

_______________

I awoke. My head was in spirals and my heart , beating at an instantaneous rate. I didn't know where I was at all , were my memories gone? Probably. Is my head aching like crazy? Definitely. The only thing I could remember was running my fingers through the dry particles of the soil , searching worriedly for my sister in hopes that I'd find her. But now , my dress feels damped, and my hair— wet , the back of my skin felt as though it was submerged in , water ?

I sprung from my position , heaving and choking on the air , looking around rapidly in hopes to find something at least a tad bit familiar, something of comfort , something I could hold , and caress and touch as if they were my own.. Something normal.

I recalled the steps I'd read in a book , knowing that if I didn't calm myself I'd only raise my blood pressure higher. I looked down , recognizing a puddle of water where I sat. Around me was a forest— there was a great difference, a difference I didn't fail to recognize.

The fog was no longer there and somehow it was also daytime, though with the lofty forest- green trees there were only pits and patterns of light that shone through them. The environment that shielded my gaze upon the sky , patterns and rays poured through slim , opened spaces between the branches and leaves of these trees. That's when I knew I wasn't in the place I was before.

That wasn't what reckoned my mind though , what I wanted to know was where my sister was? Why wasn't she with me? Was she taken— trapped— worst?

I was shaken out of my thoughts when a crackling sound echoed , my head whipped to that of where it originated and I narrowed my eyes to get a better look , it could be anything , and I obviously wasn't prepared. I struggled to stand but ended up doing it anyway.. Though I slipped here and there , I left the large puddle and crawled onto the muddy terrain until I had a better sight of the direction that the sound came from.

A loud shriek erupted. I turned , directly facing the noise , the tips of my aureate tresses , grubby from the roily water. What creature could have possibly made such a noise? The forests surrounding my home were safe and habitable, even if foxes declared the land as their own from late night disturbances , nothing could compare to the horrors that were upon this place I woke up in.

I stumbled and quickly picked myself up , frowning at the soiled clothing and the clag that stuck to my skin. I turned , realizing I'd been bear footed— though not before I was met with the bright beam of light a distance from where I was. Maybe if I went , I'd end up back in the town , with a worried teenage sister who awaited my return. The shriek rang my ears once again and so I picked up my pace and ran, never looking back. I could hear the harsh steps against the mushy ground and knew what I was dealing with was in no way human, how could that be? My mortal mind couldn't possibly grasp it.
